A great evil is sweeping our nation through judicial decree. In states all over the country, bans on homosexual marriage are being overturned by Federal Courts. In most states these bans were voted on by the people, usually by large majorities. The latest state to see its law overturned by judicial decree is Michigan. Within minutes of the Court overturning the Michigan law dozens of sodomites and lesbians got married at liberal county buildings all with the media present and cheering. To believe this wasn’t coordinated with the Court is to suspend rational thought. Homosexuals wouldn’t be marrying but for the decadent and godless culture America finds herself in.

Scripture is quite clear that marriage involves a man and a woman and that sexual relations between members of the same sex are an evil abomination. This history of mankind is such that until the 20th century no culture allowed people…

Accepting Evil As Good In America

America has become a land where evil is called good, and good is called evil – and instituted by the force of government.  Woe is us.

Lukewarm, fallen away. That is the best description I can think of as it pertains to the Christian Church by and large in America.  Millions of professing followers of Jesus Christ that have bought the lie that they should not judge good from evil or stand against wickedness and as a result, we lost the culture to hedonists and are ruled by a tyranny from Washington D.C.

Some pastors are valiantly attempting to wake up their congregations and speak the truth without compromise about the condition our nation is in spiritually.  Pastor Bill Randles appears to be such a man, and his astute observations were opined on his blog.

We here agree wholeheartedly with his assessments and warnings.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! – Isaiah 5:20

On The Acceptance Of Evil…

…Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:  That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.(2 Thessalonians 2:6-10)

Evil thrives on lies. The fall of man came about by the acceptance of a lie. Satan himself is the father of lies. Lying and evil are indivisible.

We are currently living in a time of the mass acceptance of evil. Daily the case is being successfully made for things such as homosexual marriage, abortion, pedophilia, the justification of Islamic terror. People are unwittingly being conditioned to accept the previously unacceptable through the various forms of mass media.

It is surreal to see otherwise reasonable people advocate what only a short while ago would have been unthinkable to them. How have we gotten to this point? Evil has been successfully marketed to mainstream America.

I remember the day after the 9-11 attacks, going to the post office to buy stamps and being handed a packet of Islamic”Eid” stamps recently released by the post office. I politely asked for anything but Islamic stamps, only to receive this retort from the normally friendly postman,  ”Christianity has done just as much terror as any other religion, we don’t have any room to complain!”.

We regularly receive the same hostility from otherwise normal people, whenever the subject of homosexual marriage comes up, as it has frequently lately. People who wouldn’t have dreamed of advocating any position endorsing so-called “gay rights” are now angry if such rights are ever so much as called into question. What’s going on here?

I believe what we are seeing here is the onset of something called “the strong delusion” warned about in the scripture above and other places in scripture. It follows upon and is a consequence of another phenomenon called “the apostasy”, that is the falling away.

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;( 2 Thess 2:1-3)

It is not only christians who will fall away in many cases, but the Judeo Christian world is undergoing a departure from its christian worldview, and is in a vigorous process of repudiating the religious bedrock of its own culture, as well as the institutions that sprang out of it. This is predicted in the second Psalm;

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.(Psalm 2:1-3)

The prophesied “great apostasy” includes the departure of much of the Christian church from the faith once and for all delivered. But it goes far beyond it. The “Kings of the earth and their rulers” , that is the leaders, educators, clergy and opinion and culture shapers share a consensus that  the influence of christianity is bondage that must be cast off!

For example,  by means of a constant stream of media propaganda and sophisticated marketing, homosexuality has been sold as a viable option to mainstream America. People are embracing the lie that has been sold to them. Without thought they are parroting the propaganda. This is true even of many confessing Christians!

A particularly effective aspect of the marketing is the dishonest but deliberate confusion of the (valid) Civil Rights movement of the 1960′s, with  ”homosexual rights”.

This has been effective because as authors like Shelby Steele point out , a constant drumbeat of “white guilt” heaped upon Americans by the media and academia for the legacy of slavery and racism, has made us vulnerable to any accusations of that nature, whether true or false. The last thing anyone wants to be called in America is a racist.

By the time homosexual activists deliberately hijacked the civil rights movement, claiming to be the new victims of discrimination, too many of us had already been put on the defensive to raise an objection. Propagandistic programs in schools such as “Days of silence” , in which solidarity is created between gay and straight students by means of keeping silence, have been largely effective.

Seizing upon dubious martyrs , such as Matthew Shepherd, who was killed in a drug deal gone bad, has also played into our American sense of sympathy for the victims. This is the logic behind “Anti-bullying” campaigns in our schools.

When Homosexual activists in the Media realized that most Americans didn’t actually know a homosexual, they wrote them into the scripts of sitcoms and talk shows, to “humanize” the perversion and break down resistance to it.  Now through trash such as “Friends”, “Will and Grace” and “Ellen”, everyone knows a homosexual, and they like them!

Perhaps one of the greatest factors that has brainwashed our population is “Political correctness” which is a powerful factor in both the suppression of truth and in the promotion of the big lies. Succumbing to political correctness actually causes on to hold to a cognitive dissonance, we cannot speak the truth we know.

Everybody knows the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes, but they can’t say it, they must praise the style of his “clothes” to stay on good terms with the emperor.

Everybody knows that Islam is evil, violent and anti american to the core, but few can say it. Everybody knows homosexuality is twisted, and unclean but few dare say it. Honesty has been strangled to death in the political warfare of our times.

Instead we are strongly pressured to corrupt ourselves, and to literally sell our own souls in the service of the lie. We are in danger of becoming reprobate, no longer able to distinguish good from evil! Worse than that we are in danger of actually being biased against good and in favor of evil.

Theodore Dalrymple is insightful here on how this pressure has succeeded in getting us to accept evil…

When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. ~Theodore  Dalrymple   

This is as good an insight as any I have heard yet, as to how many are losing their soul, accommodating and even championing evil. They have been conditioned by PC to first be silent in the presence of obvious lies, eventually to  ”assent to the lies”, and in many cases have been forced to repeat them over and over again.

Homosexuality is just one of the previously unthinkable “big Lies” which we have received. There are many related abominations commonly accepted, which fly in the face of all reason, logic and experience .

People are being set up for the ultimate soul-destroying lie Paul warned about in the above quote. The lie is the old lie, that man can be “as gods”, defining for ourselves truth, morality,virtue and meaning with no reference to the God of the Bible.

The rot of our society is almost complete, the only hope for anyone is to take seriously the once well-known promise of Jesus

“If you continue in my words you will be my disciples indeed, and you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free!”(John 8:32).

The Left Is Too Smart To Fail

The infrastructure of manufactured intelligence has become a truly impressive thing. Today as never before there is an industry dedicated, not to educating people, but to making them feel smart. From paradigm shifting TED talks to paradigm to books by thought leaders and documentaries by change agents that transform your view of the world, manufactured intelligence has become its own culture.

Manufactured intelligence is the smarmy quality that oozes out of a New York Times column by Thomas Friedman, Maureen Dowd, Frank Bruni and the rest of the gang who tell you nothing meaningful while dazzling you with references to international locations, political events and pop culture, tying together absurdities into one synergistic web of nonsense that feels meaningful.

There’s a reason that there’s a Tom Friedman article generator online. But it could just as easily be a New York Times article generator that sums up the hollowness of the buzzword-fed crowd that is always hungry to reaffirm the illusion of its own intelligence.

We all know that George W. Bush was a moron. And we all know that Obama is a genius. We have been told by Valerie Jarrett, by his media lapdogs and even by the great man himself that he is just too smart to do his job. And it’s reasonable that a genius would be bored by the tedious tasks involved in running the most powerful nation on earth.

But what is “smart” anyway? What makes Obama a genius? It’s not his IQ. It’s probably not his grades or we would have seen them already. It’s that like so many of the thought leaders and TED talkers, he makes his supporters feel smart. The perception of intelligence is really a reflection.

Smart once used to be an unreachable quality. Einstein was proclaimed a genius, because it was said that no one understood his theories. Those were undemocratic times when it was assumed that the eggheads playing with the atom had to be a lot smarter than us or we were in big trouble.

Intelligence has since been democratized. Smart has been redistributed. Anyone can get an A for effort. And the impulse of manufactured intelligence is not smart people, but people who make us feel smart. That is why Neil deGrasse Tyson, another obsessively self-promoting mediocrity like Carl Sagan, is now the new face of science. Sagan made science-illiterate liberals feel smart while pandering to their biases. Tyson does the same thing for the Twitter generation.

Self-esteem is the new intelligence. Obama’s intelligence was manufactured by pandering to the biases and tastes of his supporters. The more he shared their biases and tastes, the smarter he seemed to be and the smarter they felt by having so much in common with such a smart man.

Obama Inc. built his image around the accessories of modern manufactured intelligence, premature biographies, global reference points and pop culture. This marriage of high and low with an exotic spice from the east embodies modern liberal intelligence. Take a dash of pop culture, mix it with an important quote, throw in some recent technological development that promises to “change how we all live”, mention your time in a foreign culture and draw an insipid conclusion.

That’s not just the DNA of every other New York Times column, TED talk and important book by an equally important thought leader sitting under the floodlights at your local struggling chain bookstore with its portraits of great writers on the wall and the tables groaning under unsold copies of Fifty Shades of Grey, Malcolm Gladwell, Candace Bushnell and Khaled Hosseini.

It’s also the DNA of Obama Inc. It is its assumption of intelligence through compassionate self-involvement, progressive insights derived from an obsession with the self and the sanctification of Third World references, real or imaginary, invoking the spiritual power of the Other, the totem of alien magic, to transcend the rational and the pragmatic. It is upscale Oprah; egotism masquerading as enlightenment, condescension as compassion and soothing quotes as religion.

Once upon a time, bright young American men went to Europe and wrote books about the world. That was our notion of intelligence. JFK did it and was widely praised for his intelligence. Today bright young American men and women go to the Third World and write their books about the world, mining the compost of their Flickr accounts, Tumblr updates and Twitter feed for deep thoughts.

Intelligence to a modern liberal isn’t depth, it’s appearance. It isn’t even an intellectual quality, but a spiritual quality. Compassionate people who care about others are always “smarter”, no matter how stupid they might be, because they care about the world around them.

An insight into how we live matters more than useful knowledge. Skill is irrelevant unless it’s a transformative progressive “changing the way we live” application.

Obama and his audience mistake their orgy of mutual flattery for intelligence and depth. Like a trendy restaurant whose patrons know that they have good taste because they patronize it, his supporters know that they are smart because they support a smart man and Obama knows he is smart because so many smart people support him.

The thought never rises within this bubble of manufactured intelligence that all of them might really be idiots who have convinced themselves that they are geniuses because they read the right books (or pretend to read them), watch the right movies and shows (or pretend to) and have the right values (or pretend to).

Smart is surplus when you have Gladwell sitting under a full DVD set of The Wire prominently displayed on your bookshelf right alongside a signed copy of The Audacity of Hope.

Marxists thought that Marxism was smart. Progressives measure intelligence in progressivism. Its only two qualities are “world awareness” and “progressive future adaptation”.

Obama hit both these qualities perfectly with his Third Culture background and the appearance of modern technocratic polish. Not just a politician, but a thought leader, he had the pseudo-celebrity quality of their kind, able to move smoothly from a celebrity panel about Third World microfinance, to a Jay-Z concert to a fundraiser for DIY solar panels for India to a banquet for a political hack.

Everyone who encountered him thought that he was smart because he made them feel smart. And that is the supreme duty of the modern liberal intellectual, not to be smart, but to make others feel smart. Genuine intelligence is threatening. Manufactured intelligence is soothing. And those intellectually superior progressives who need to believe that Obama is smart in order to believe that they are smart cannot stop believing in his brains without confronting the illusion of their own intelligence.

Manufactured intelligence isn’t smart. It’s stupid. It’s as stupid as building windmills for sustainable energy in places where the wind hardly blows, as stupid as calling inflated budgets “investments” and as stupid as believing that a man is smart because he can reference poverty in the Third World.

It’s easy to tell apart fake intelligence from the real thing. Manufactured intelligence fakes “smart” by playing word games. It constantly invents new terms to provide the enlightened elites with a secret language of Newspeak buzzwords that mean less than the words they are replacing. The buzzwords, Thought Leader and Change Agent, quickly take on cultist overtones and become ways of describing how the group’s leaders would like to use power, than anything about the world that they describe.

Manufactured intelligence is a consensus, not a debate. It’s not arrived at through a process, but flopped into like a warm soothing bath of nothingness. It’s correct because everyone says so. And anyone who disagrees is clearly stupid and lacks awareness of the interconnected ways that the world synergistically works. And probably doesn’t know science, Sagan or Neil deGrasse Tyson either.

Real intelligence is the product of constant debate. It is forever striving to overthrow the consensus and willing to challenge anything and everything. It uses a specialized vocabulary only to describe specialized phenomena, rather than replacing existing words with new words to describing existing phenomena in order to seem as if it understands the future better by going all 1984 on it.

Finally, manufactured intelligence is self-involved. It mistakes feeling for thinking. It deals not with how things are or even how we would like them to be, but how we feel about the way things are and what our feelings about the way things are say about what kind of people we are.

Liberal intelligence is largely concerned with the latter. It is a self-esteem project for mediocre elites, the sons and daughters of the formerly accomplished who are constantly diving into the shallow pools of their own minds to explore how their privilege and entitlement makes them view the world and how they can be good people by challenging everyone’s paradigms and how they can think outside the box by climbing into it and pulling the flaps shut behind them.

Perpetual self-involvement isn’t intelligence regardless of how many of the linguistic tricks of memoir fiction it borrows to endow its liberal self-help section with the appearance of nobility.

Liberalism isn’t really about making the world a better place. It’s about reassuring the elites that they are good people for wanting to rule over it.

That is why Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize for having good intentions. His actual foreign policy mattered less than the appearance of a new transformative foreign policy based on speeches. Gore promised to be be harsher on Saddam than Bush, but no one remembers that because everyone in the bubble knows that the Iraq War was stupid… and only conservatives do stupid things.

Liberal intelligence exists on the illusion of its self-worth. The magical thinking that guides it in every other area from economics to diplomacy also convinces it that if it believes it is smart, that it will be. The impenetrable liberal consensus in every area is based on this delusion of intelligence. Every policy is right because it’s smart and it’s smart because it’s progressive and it’s progressive because smart progressives say that it is.

Progressives manufacture the consensus of their own intelligence and insist that it proves them right.

Imagine a million people walking in a circle and shouting, “WE’RE SMART AND WE’RE RIGHT. WE’RE RIGHT BECAUSE WE’RE SMART. WE’RE SMART BECAUSE WE’RE RIGHT.” Now imagine that these marching morons dominate academia, the government bureaucracy and the entertainment industry allowing them to spend billions yelling their idiot message until it outshouts everyone else while ignoring the disasters in their wake because they are too smart to fail.

MarxoFascist Says ‘White Jesus’ Responsible For “Enslavement, Conquest, Colonialism & Genocide”

Liberal “author” Tim Wise said on CNN that the historical depiction of Jesus as white has resulted in slavery and genocide.

Liberal-fascism/Socialism is a religion to be prized above all.  This is why disciples of Marx and Engels go berserk any time someone dares to assert the culture that made America the greatest nation on earth, with liberty as we understand it, never before existing before our time.

White Guilt is a doctrine of the left that coincide with their sacraments of conscience-free homosexual sex and abortions for all.  Joining hands with Jihadists to denounce Christianity and biblical moral values is no longer enough for the Left.  Asserting White Guilt and accusations of genocide is the new libel to be included when describing biblical Christianity and it’s adherents.

It would be folly to ignore this growing meme being preached by the true believers in wiping out the “white menace’  and parroted by the clapping seals of the Propaganda media.  It is a fact of history that the successful demonization of a selected group of people results in government-sponsored criminalization and slaughter of the people they have demonized.  Make no mistake, because the Left seeks to do just that.

Blood libels are nothing new to maniacs hell-bent on erasing a people they hate.  Radical Muslims teach their children blood-libel, that Jews use blood in Passover matzohs – which makes it easier to kill Jews indiscriminately to spread Islam by force.  The radical Left in America teach that ‘white Christianity’ is responsible for slavery, conquest and genocide.  That too, designed to make it easier for their people to accept what they intend to do to ‘white Christians’.

The secular-humanist/Marxist juggernaut is on a rampage after comments from Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly opining about Santa and Jesus being ‘white’, this followed by the A&E firing of Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty due discussing his views of homosexuality in a GQ interview.  So they trot out self-loathing white and Conservative-hating moron Tim Wise – who has been writing for some time about his zealous wish for white Christians and Conservatives to be eradicated.

Make no mistake, this is the deepening phase of institutionalized persecution just getting ramped up and the Left is as gleeful as it can be over the prospects of criminalizing and eradicating those of us they hate.  Having witnessed institutionalized persecution in a third world hellhole, I can say unequivocally – that the Christians in this country are not ready to handle what our brethren have to deal with on a daily basis, and I’m seeing the same underlying mentality at work here in the former land of the free.

Remember this adage that the hedonist Left follows and knows to be effective: if they tell a lie often enough – it becomes accepted as the truth among those who are ignorant and do not think.

Duck Dynasty Star Fired For Expressing His Faith And Opinion About Homosexuality

A&E has fired Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson following remarks about his faith and opinion of homosexuality he made in a recent profile in GQ.

Genesis 19 reveals the nature of a society that considers homosexuality good and what they do to those who refuse to embrace it.  Revelation reveals that at the End of the Age, all persons must have a mark in their forehead or right hand in order to make a living.  Today we see what happens when one refuses the mark of the homosexual beast in your thoughts and actions: you get fired.

The star of the Duck Dynasty series Phil Robertson discovers the cost of daring to openly state his faith and opinion when asked about it in an interview in GQ.  He was placed on ‘indefinite suspension’ for daring to speak ill of what he considers to be a sin.

Robertson discussed his religious beliefs in a GQ interview about sin, and said, “start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”  The GQ writer paraphrases the Apostle Paul in Corinthians noting the passage, “don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

Robertson added during the interview, “It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

That was enough to send the homo lobbying groups into the stratosphere with rage and vitriol – and A&E decided to fire it’s number one show’s star for his personal comments and beliefs in an interview outside of their show or network.  Of course they say he’s on “permanent hiatus”, which in newspeak means “fired”.   What this also means is yet another confirmation that we are not entitled to our own personal religious or moral or political beliefs if they run contrary to the mob and the hordes of hedonists and Leftists in this Obamanation.

Amerika is no longer a land with freedom of speech, faith or belief.  We are become a land of Sodom, and intolerant of anyone who does not share the mark of it’s beast.

I would hope and pray this entire cast and family of this hit show – walk and tell A&E to shove their show and contract. But we will see if money talks and faith walks by those made wealthy by an entertainment industry that promotes homosexuality.

A Date Which Will Live In Media Infamy

If today’s sick media culture existed 72 years ago, Pearl Harbor would be blamed on American Conservatives.

Because His Heinous Barack Obama, was busy riding the coattails of the death of Nelson Mandela by tweeting a picture of himself visiting the cell Nelson Mandela occupied, our dear leader had no time to commemorate the lost lives at Pearl Harbor some 72 years ago, save for Facebooking a picture of himself standing in front of the USS Arizona memorial.  It’s always all about him – the Narcissist-In-Chief.

Instead of remembering the attack 72 years ago that plunged the USA into world war, Obama made the day all about petitioning Congress to extend unemployment insurance to those who have been without a job for the last 5 years.  Today’s media simply parrots the Leftist line of whatever their deranged leaders tell them.  For example, last week Obama launched into a new crusade against ‘income Inequality”, and like trained clapping seals they decry the ‘evils’ of the “new Rich” whom the media says we must all loathe because it’s not fair that anyone besides themselves should be wealthy.

That’s what the princes of the power of the airwaves do – preach the gospel of Marx, Engles and Stalin.  Can you imagine what this rot gut bunch would have done 72 years ago? Well, it’s not that hard to imagine.

Naval Base Bombed, Shinto Worshipers Fear Backlash – New York Times – December 8 1941

A day after planes passed over their peaceful village on the way to attack the Naval Station at Pearl Harbor, local fishermen are still picking up the pieces.

“I don’t know what any of this is about,” a man who would only give his name as Paji said, holding the remains of a net which he had used to earn a living. “All I know is that the killing has to stop.”

In Washington, government officials urged the public to stay calm and not to jump to any conclusions warning that such reactions might play into the hands of the militant extremists responsible for the attack.

Early copies of President Roosevelt’s upcoming speech to Congress likewise warn the American public of the dangers of overreaction.

“We are not at war with Japan,” it says. “We are at war with a tiny handful of extremists who are attempting to drag the Japanese people into a conflict. But we must keep a cool head and not allow them to win by provoking a war. We will defeat this enemy, but we will do it by not fighting them.”

A profile has emerged of at least one of these attackers. Hideki Nakamura, a graduate of Harvard and a talented oboe player, was shot down and captured. Nothing in his background, which included playing for the Harvard squash team, would have lead anyone to conclude that he was capable of such a thing.

KATANA, a local civil rights organization partly funded by Japan’s war propaganda office, has warned that American foreign policy is responsible for the radicalization of such young men like Nakamura.

“What made this man hate America so much that he wanted to bomb it?” a spokeswoman for KATANA asked. “How did America fail him? And how can we win him back?”

Nakamura’s guards have suggested that the pilot is soft-spoken and has pleasant manners, but that he becomes vocally exercised over the American embargo of Japan and the refusal of many universities to install rice paper doors in dormitories.

“Detaining Nakamura only inspires others to imitate him,” KATANA said, suggesting that he instead be released back to Japan where the government is running an anti-extremism program at the Strategic Institute of War that claims to be able to deprogram extremists with a 97% success rate.

Unfortunately the program, dubbed KAMIKAZE, is unable to accommodate all potential extremists without additional foreign aid funding from the United States government.

“It’s cheap for us to spend 3 million dollars fighting Japanese extremism by funding Kamikaze instead of spending 30 million on national defense,” Senator Earl Hawkins said. “Studies show that one of the leading causes of anti-American sentiments is unemployment. KAMIKAZE is tackling that.”

Foreign policy experts at the Center for American Progress warned that the so-called Pearl Harbor event was the product of decades of American expansionism.

“It’s easy for the flag-waving jingoist in the stockyards to rave about the Japs, but this attack did not occur in a vacuum,” Lester Gore-Vinton said. “Look at Commodore Perry’s globalization venture and the Philippines War and our ill-advised intervention in the Russian Revolution. This is blowback.”

At impromptu peace rallies in New York City’s Union Square and San Francisco’s Union Square, speakers called for the government to explore all options for peace. Many pointed out that more Americans die every year of shingles than were killed at Pearl Harbor.

“The United States is allied with Great Britain. We have been aiding the Western occupation of Asia,” Earl Gorber of Working People Want Peace and a Living Wage Now said. “The only amazing thing is that it took this long to happen. As long as the United States continues propping up the reactionary imperialists of Great Britain against the progressive movements of the German and Japanese vanguard of the working class, attacks like these will come again and again.”

Some were skeptical that Japan had even been behind the attack.

“Anyone can paint insignia on a plane and drop some smoke bombs. That’s all we’ve seen on these photos,” Martha Gabbitz exclaimed. “There hasn’t even been a declaration of war.  We don’t have a single piece of undeniable proof that there was even an attack. All it takes is a week in a photo lab and the government can produce a picture of anything.”

Meanwhile at Shinto temples in Los Angeles, the mood was fearful and subdued. Worshipers refused to give their names worried about the consequences to their families.

“This is madness,” an older gentleman studying detailed charts of the California coastline said. “One day you’re an All-American entrepreneur studying submarine trade routes to America and the next day everyone is glaring at you no matter how many American flags you stick on your aerial poison gas balloon.”

In San Francisco, the 109-year-old Rev. Francis Wheatley-Simpson, famous for protesting every war, including the Civil War, had already declared a hunger strike, even though no American forces were engaged in fighting.

“War is never the answer,” Wheatley-Simpson said, as he had said about WW1, the Spanish-
American War, the Civil War and the French and Indian War. “Love is the answer. Violence never solves anything. America was not built on war. It will not survive through war.”

“It doesn’t matter what Japan did. There will be war,” predicted Mason Johnson, author of War is a Farce That Forces Us to Fear. “We love war. We are obsessed with war. That’s why we have a society with such rampant criminality. Our idea of masculinity is to use force on everything. Even our national symbols represent violation and patriarchy. If it isn’t Japan, it will be someone else.”

Meanwhile on a Topeka street, Barnard Stevenson, an 18-year-old lad blinked in confusion when asked about Pearl Harbor. He likewise could not name Hitler or Mussolini and had no idea where Europe was. He was however able to name the stars of Rocket Assault, the latest big film in which a dashing reporter must team up with the enemy to stop his own government from provoking a war with a false flag attack.

“Is this anything kind of like that?” he wondered when the Pearl Harbor attack was explained to him.

It’s Not Obama, It’s Do-Nothing Christians Who Refuse To Stand Who Are Consigning Us To Tyranny

Christians have bought a horrible lie, and as a result of the misapplication of Matthew 7:1-2, we have lost the culture and losing our liberty.

The tyranny we now suffer is a direct result of Christian Americans turning away from their responsibilities as American Citizens, weakening their own franchise and the structure of the American “composite republic” that would not have existed without a vibrant – in-your-face Christianity nor maintained without a sufficient Christian moral base.  Without an active Christian moral ethic expected in a civil society, wickedness will abound and powerful people will foist their own interests over the interests of their neighbors.

What church leaders in America are preaching, is that we have no need to confront those with an agenda who come against the faith.  They say that instead we need to show them love and compassion.  Evil sees that as surrender and a validation of their wickedness.  Those who think they can ignore, compromise or be ‘equal’ with sin – will be conquered by it. Sin is not content to co-exist alongside righteousness.  It will attempt to subjugate and eradicate the righteous so as to avoid any sense of shame for wrongdoing.

Contrary to what some preachers teach about God fighting all our battles for us supernaturally – scripture makes it clear that a People of God were required to actually stand and resist those who came against them:

“Then Amalek came and fought against Israel at Rephidim. So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose men for us and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will station myself on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.” Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought against Amalek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. So it came about when Moses held his hand up, that Israel prevailed, and when he let his hand down, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy. Then they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it; and Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side and one on the other. Thus his hands were steady until the sun set. So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.”

That sounds like combat to me.  I don’t read that God did all the fighting for them.  He may have given them the victory – but it required actual physical effort to combat those who came against them.   Something the church and Christians are now refusing to do in this culture.

Christian Apologetics is being lost – it is being surrendered to Muslim apologetics.

Pastor Chuck Baldwin makes an excellent argument of noting where the real threat to our Rights and liberties is coming from; not from those who we know are enemies of Constitutional Republicanism – but rather those who claim to be on our side, those who claim to be our leaders – who betray us all .

OUR FRIENDS ARE KILLING US

 There is a prophetic verse of Scripture that records the conquering Messiah as being asked about the wounds that are in his hands. He responds, “Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.” (Zechariah 13:6 KJV) Indeed. It wasn’t the Romans that were fixated with killing Christ; it was the Lord’s own brethren. “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” (John 1:11 KJV) In like manner, our nation is quickly losing its liberties and Natural rights, not because of our enemies, but because of our so-called friends and brothers.

Edmund Burke summarized it beautifully: “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” And, for the most part, that is what good men are doing today: nothing!

 As regular readers of this column know, I am passionate in my defense of the Natural right of self-defense. I firmly believe that the only thing standing between us and tyranny is the right of the people to keep and bear arms. The freedom of speech, the right to assemble and redress government, the right to be secure in our own homes, the right to a trial by jury, the freedom of worship, etc., all depend on the right of the people to keep and bear arms. When the people of America surrender this right, all of the other rights will quickly disappear.

 Furthermore, Daniel Webster was absolutely right when he said, “Hold on, my friends, to the Constitution and to the Republic for which it stands. Miracles do not cluster, and what has happened once in 6,000 years, may not happen again. Hold on to the Constitution, for if the American Constitution should fail, there will be anarchy throughout the world.” Amen!

 Not only does the Second Amendment protect the liberties of the people of the United States, the Second Amendment protects the free peoples of the world. Without the armed citizenry of the people of America, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, France, and the rest of the free world would plummet into abject tyranny and oppression. Look at how socialistic and enslaved people in these countries already are. Can one imagine how quickly they would plunge into the Dark Ages without the power and influence of the last bulwark of liberty: a free and armed United States of America?

 Daniel Webster uttered another profound truth: “There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter: from the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence. I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men and become the instruments of their own undoing.”

 Ladies and gentlemen, that is exactly what many of our so-called friends and brothers have become: “instruments of their own undoing.” It is not the liberals, socialists, amoralists, elitists, globalists, etc., who are killing us; it is the pastors, Christians, conservatives, Republicans, etc., who sit back and do nothing that are killing us.

Let me say it plainly: neocon Republicans do far more damage to the cause of liberty than do liberal Democrats. Do-nothing pastors and Christians do far more damage to the cause of liberty than do atheists and agnostics. Compromising conservatives do far more damage to the cause of liberty than do liberals.

Come on, folks! Think about it: who endangered the cause of independence more: King George III or Benedict Arnold? A known enemy is far less dangerous than an enemy who pretends to be your friend.

 All over America, our “friends” are selling out the cause of liberty. Every pastor who refuses to publicly repudiate the forces that are attacking our freedom is selling out the cause of liberty. Every Republican who refuses to stand firm against the forces that are attacking our freedom is selling out the cause of liberty. Every conservative who refuses to resist the forces that are attacking our freedom is selling out the cause of liberty.

 There is nothing new about big-government zealots. They have been with us ever since the Tower of Babel. They were with us in 1775 and 1776. Freedom does not depend upon the absence of would-be tyrants; it depends upon the presence of those who are willing to resist would-be tyrants. And that is what seems to be vanishing.

 Folks, this is an absolute truism: not all Christians are friends of liberty; not all pastors are friends of liberty; not all conservatives are friends of liberty; not all Republicans are friends of liberty; not all military personnel are friends of liberty; not all policemen are friends of liberty; not all attorneys are friends of liberty; not all physicians are friends of liberty; not all teachers and professors are friends of liberty; and not all gun owners are friends of liberty. Anyone who refuses to resist the forces of evil that attack our Constitution, Declaration, and Bill of Rights is no friend of liberty.

 For example, I have been a long-time subscriber to a couple of gun magazines: Guns and Ammo and Handguns. Both of these magazines are published by the same parent company. When President Obama and Senator Feinstein attempted to ban semi-automatic rifles and full-size rifle and pistol magazines earlier this year, I kept waiting for the editors and writers of these two magazines to sound the clarion call of resistance. I waited and waited and waited. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Throughout the entire debate, there was not one peep of protest to these egregious gun control laws proposed by Obama and Feinstein in these magazines. This in spite of the fact that practically every page of both magazines is filled with the very arms that would have been banned to the general public had Obama and Feinstein gotten their way. Had the gun-grabbing tyrants been victorious, I suppose Guns and Ammo magazine would simply have re-invented itself in order to fit into the new Amerika in much the same way that so many companies did in Nazi Germany. I guess they would simply have changed the name of the magazine to Military and Police Guns and Ammo.

I wrote the publisher of the two magazines mentioned above and explained why, after so many years as a faithful subscriber, I was not renewing my subscription. Of course, I received no reply. And now I know why.

 Writing for Breitbart.com, AWR Hawkins filed this report: “In the December issue of Guns & Ammo magazine, editor Dick Metcalf uses his ‘Backstop’ column to argue that all constitutional rights need regulation, including the 2nd Amendment.

 “TheTruthAboutGuns.com has scanned and posted a copy of the column online. In it, Metcalf explains why he chose to address the regulation of constitutional rights: ‘I bring this up because way too many gun owners still believe that any regulation of the right to keep and bear arms is an infringement. The fact is that all Constitutional rights are regulated, always have been, and need to be.’

 “Metcalf says he receives ‘bags of mail every year’ from people complaining of the myriad regulations related to concealed carry permits. He says these readers ‘typically argue’ that the 2nd Amendment ‘is all the authority they need’ to keep and bear arms, to carry a gun with them where they go.

 “In response, Metcalf writes: ‘I [wonder] whether those same people believe that just anybody should be able to buy a vehicle and take it out on public roadways without any kind of driver’s training, test, or license.’

 “Metcalf misses the point. The 2nd Amendment protects a natural right; that’s why it is not to be infringed. Owning and operating a vehicle is not a natural right, so comparing it to gun ownership is like comparing the ability to own and operate an airplane with the rights to freedom of speech and religion.

 “This is an important point because our Founders’ central reason for creating the Bill of Rights was to hedge in a body of natural rights as off-limits to government regulation and interference.

 “The 2nd Amendment says, ‘A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.’ Metcalf has seized on the words ‘well regulated,’ taking them out of context to the detriment of ‘shall not be infringed.’”

 Guns & Ammo Editor: All Constitutional Rights Need Regulation, Even 2nd Amendment

Hooray for Mr. Hawkins! He has a grasp of Natural Law. That is something that Dick Metcalf obviously doesn’t possess. The sad thing is Mr. Metcalf occupies a very trusted and influential position that should be utilized to protect the Second Amendment. Instead, he is using his position to help destroy the Second Amendment. Like I said, not all gun owners are the friends of liberty.

 But as long as Guns and Ammo magazine is rolling in the dough, don’t expect any change. I, for one, am not going to help pay a gun magazine editor’s salary that is using the money I send him to use the pages of the magazine to facilitate the destruction of the liberties that keep my children and grandchildren free. That means I have kissed my subscription to Guns and Ammo and Handguns magazines goodbye.

By the same token, how long are Christians today who say they believe in the Second Amendment (and the rest of the Bill of Rights) going to keep sending their tithes and offerings to these churches where the pastors refuse to publicly resist these draconian gun control bills such as were recently introduced by Obama and Feinstein? How long are they going to keep filling the pews of these do-nothing churches? As long as these say-nothing pastors see their pews and offering plates full, don’t expect anything to change.

I will say it plainly: if you attend a church and didn’t hear your pastor oppose the Obama/Feinstein gun control bills from the pulpit earlier this year, YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THAT CHURCH. The only thing holding this republic together is the people’s right to keep and bear arms–especially semi-automatic rifles with large-capacity magazines. By refusing to resist evil, your pastor has become an enemy of liberty.

Wittingly or not, he is helping to put the chains of slavery around the necks of your children and grandchildren. Why would you stay and support such a pastor and church?

As Christ was betrayed and rejected by His “friends,” so, too, the liberties and freedoms of our country are being betrayed and rejected by its “friends.”

Twisting In The Wind: America’s Coming Collapse

The Bridge of American society is being buffeted by the gales of Marxism, Dependence and Debt.  Collapse is certain as society gyrates in the winds of Obama’s ‘change”.

One cannot argue with the analogy, or the conclusion.  The laws of gravity, physics, economics and history cannot be placated.  America is going to collapse – we just do not know when the breaking point will be reached as the nations swings from liberty to tyranny, from freedom to slavery.

A Collapse 73 Years Ago, and Another One Coming

73 years ago today, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington State collapsed.  The way in which it collapsed was brought on by a positive-feedback situation, where the destructive force was only bounded by the structural integrity of the bridge itself.

There are some serious lessons in this collapse for the future of American society.

First, let’s get a basic understanding of why the Tacoma Narrows bridge collapsed.

The wind that fateful day was blowing strong, gusting to 42 mph, at roughly right angles to the bridge’s span.  The bridge began to life, then flutter, then twist, and as more of the bridge’s structure faced the wind, capturing more energy from the wind, the the motions of the bridge got larger with each bounce, which caused the bridge to capture more energy from the wind, which caused the motions to grow larger, and so on and so forth, until the bridge could no longer resist the motion, and it broke.

Dynamic Aeroelastic Flutter is a self-feeding and potentially destructive vibration where aerodynamic forces on an object couple with a structure’s natural mode of vibration to produce rapid periodic motion. … a positive feedback occurs between the structure’s natural vibration and the aerodynamic forces. Once the amplitude of the oscillations becomes large enough, the structural integrity of the bridge fails, resulting in what we see at right.

II. LESSONS FOR AMERICAN SOCIETY

Let’s take the Tacoma Narrows collapse as a metaphor.  What are the destructive forces pushing against American society today?   What mechanisms cause these destructive forces to grow and build on themselves?  And at what point does the structural integrity of American society fail, and an economic, political, and/or societal collapse occur?

The howling winds buffeting American society today come from many sources, but join to form a gale force aimed at near right-angles to our society’s span.

I will only focus on a few destructive forces here: the increasing dependence on government and systems of support; the loss of liberty and the increasing police state; the continual devaluation of money via government and big-bank debt; and the intentional attacks on morality and traditional societal norms.

THE WINDS AND THEIR EFFECTS

Destructive Force: Dependence

When I was a kid, my grandmother canned the vegetables from her garden.  In my dad’s childhood in rural West Virginia, everybody did.  Everybody had chickens, and many had a hog or two, rooting in the woods, that would help get them through the winter if things got tight.   Folks were self-reliant.

Not anymore.  One in five West Virginians have an EBT food stamp card. The country as a whole is so dependent on government that half of Americans live in a household that receives some kind of government benefit.  America has 65 million low-information voters who don’t pay taxes, but keep voting to keep the free stuff train ‘a rollin’.

America is dependent.  Not just on government, but on fragile systems of support than can easily be disrupted by natural disasters, like weather, or man-made disasters, like civil unrest and terrorism.  Interdependent,  “just-in-time” delivery and inventory systems ensure that no store has more than 3 days of food.  And water?  Pumped by electricity, just like sewage.  A lot of people in my native West Virginia that used to be on wells, springs, and rain-catch cisterns are on county water and sewer now.    Water that is pumped by electricity.

Food and supplies come to the stores on trucks, whose diesel fuel is refined, pumped, and metered by electrically-controlled and powered equipment.

All of it depends on the power grid.  Thank God it’s not fully centralized; states like Texas can stand on their own, and some other states like Tennessee, Alabama, and Washington have enough hydropower to stand alone, to a certain degree.   But computerized controls connected to the Internet mean that these grids are fragile, and subject to computer-based attacks.  It used to be that the utility industries had their own supervistory, control, and data acquisition (SCADA) networks. Not anymore.  They’re on the Internet, subject to the Chinese Army’s cyberattackers and who knows who else.

In the midst of all this dependency, as a wild card, there are all these drills that turn into real tragedies.  Oklahoma City, in ’95.  9/11/01.  The Boston Marathon bomber.  And coming up, a week from today, NERC’s GridEx, where the drill is the power grid going down, all over the East Coast.  Two weeks after a documentary on NatGeo about an “American Blackout”.  How convenient.

When the power goes out nationwide, there is not a systemic way to get it back. Ever.

100 million+ would die in the first year.

And despite a large movement of “survivalism” and “preppers”, of which Ol’ Backwoods counts himself a part, it is not enough.  Every day, more people get an EBT.  Half of the voting population of the United States takes a government handout of one kind or another.  de Toqueville’s warning applies, but we have ignored it, and now, the Free Crap Army is busy voting itself more and more benefits.  On our election returns maps, whole counties are turning the color of dependence, blue, which really should be Communist Red.

The dependence is growing, and is feeding itself, a destructive force bounded only by resources and the remaining strength of American society.

Destructive Force: The Police State

There is, it seems, an intentional push by the police to get people to react.  The police-military-industrial complex seems to want a civil war.  The Feds are paying for local police forces to have equipment and training in tactics that no oath-keeping officer should be using against Americans. And you know: if they have the gear and tactics, they WILL use them. To justify the budget, a police chief will send a SWAT team to take out a petty thief.   And do it over and over again.

These “all cops to the scene” response to crimes seem directed toward getting people to believe that the Secret Police are everywhere and know everything, and will beat you down if you resist.  In Boston, a whole city was locked down for ONE teenage ‘terrorist’. But it is a sham, a Potemkin village.  If 200 ‘youths’ caused the Austin TX police to “swarm” on the location of the Haunted House riot, and the police could not respond anywhere else, what if a major crime or terrorist event occurred in the rest of the city?  Chaos, that’s what.

The police may put up a show of totalitarian force, but they cannot react fast enough.  As Matt Bracken says, a flash-mob operates on a 4-minute form-act-disperse loop, and the police have a loop about ten times as long, on average.  It’s Col. John Boyd’s OODA loop, and the mob is inside the police OODA loop.  Only armed citizens can react fast enough, because they are already there.

Besides, as the Supreme Court has ruled half a dozen times, the police have no duty to protect you, the individual.  They only have a duty to reduce crime generally.  And their increasing use of Gestapo tactics does not help.

The armed citizen is the only bright spot in this police-state scenario we Americans find ourselves in.  All 50 states have some way for the citizen to carry a gun; in some, it’s virtually impossible to get a permit (New Jersey, New York), and in others (Arizona, Alaska, Vermont, Montana), no permit is required at all.  The rest are mostly shall-issue.  But everywhere you look, the armed citizen is blamed by the media and politicians every single time there is a mass shooting.  And 9 times out of 10, those happen in so-called ‘gun-free zones.’  There’s guns, all right, just not in the right hands.

And then, there are the “the people are the enemy” and “submit to me, I am a cop” attitudes.

Example: the lunacy in New Mexico.  Anal rape of one Mr. Ecker by the police.  They found a judge who ordered this done!  Only one doctor stood up and said, “No, I will not participate.”  But Leviathan cannot be stopped.  The cops found a hospital that would search this man’s rectum, though he had demonstrably done NOTHING wrong.  And these cops have done it before to another man.

The ‘war on drugs’ has been the single most important factor in causing the police to act like tyrants instead of their original mission: protect and defend the constitution against its enemies, and keeping the peace.  Police now can use the possession of any kind of controlled substance as an excuse to do almost anything now.

Police know they will NOT lose a paycheck if they gun somebody down 4 seconds after contact, or taser a woman for not showing the cop her boobs.  And the dirty cops blackmail the dirtier cops, with mutual guilty knowledge, and the so-called “thin blue line” protecting the thug cops.

What about the trained submissiveness exercises for the kiddos?  They all teach the same lesson: kiss the boot of tyranny, or die.  Kids frog-marched out of class by the police for the tiniest infractions, for biting a Pop-Tart ‘in the shape of a gun’ and the like.  Kids in schoolyards, ‘proned out’ by the cops, yelling at them to get down, with barking drug dogs baring their teeth.

Cops used to swear an oath to the Constitution, to a set of ideals.   These Feds and these rogue cops don’t care about that anymore.  There isn’t a moral set of brakes anymore.  They WILL go full Gestapo.  It has already happened.

The police state is growing, and is feeding on itself, a destructive force bounded only by the remaining moral strength of American society.

Destructive Force: Debt

Every year, Federal, state, and local governments spend more than they did the year before, far in excess of the inflation rate.  Government is the only sector where “zero-based budgeting” does not exist;  more, more, more is just the way it’s done.

Every year, more debt is piled on, and the Federal Reserve buys trillions of dollars in bad paper, stocks and bonds, to keep the bubble inflated.  Banks make loans at ever-higher fractional reserve leverages, ensuring they could not possibly give out as much cash as they have deposits.  Credit-default swaps (CDS’s), collateralized-debt obligations (CDO’s), and other obscure financial beasts pile debt higher and higher.

There is now more debt in America than there is money in the world.  It cannot possibly be paid back.

And soon, the United States Treasury will spend quarter of annual tax returns on interest alone.

What if interest rates go up to a mere 5%?  Chaos.  Complete loss of faith in the dollar.

The debt mountain is growing, and groans under its own weight.  How long before it gives way?

COLLAPSE

In our bridge metaphor, American society is swaying, twisting, and bucking, and every time it catches more wind, the amplitude of the oscillations increase.

Where is the breaking point?

I wish I knew.

But we, as individuals, families, and communities, had better be preparing for it.  Because it’s going to happen whether we like it, or not

There is a blending of politics and Christianity that is being done for the specific purpose of REMAKING America.  To turn us from a Representative Republic with a Christian heritage – into a pure Secular Socialist Democracy which will lead ultimately to despotism.   The effort is to replace America’s Christian foundations with NeoLeft Secularist ideals of a Socialist utopia.  To do that – they have successfully helped to steer Americans away from traditional Christianity, to embrace an idea of religion totally alien to our nation’s foundations and principles.  Communist and Socialist regimes always replace religion with the worship of the state.  Ultimately they seek a society where the Elites will regulate everything including commerce, property, wealth, speech, welfare and even how you think and believe.  The once blasphemous idea that Socialism is good for America, is gaining ground because it is being preached daily from the news and entertainment media, and from political panderers that morality means big government Socialism – and more directly from some pulpits – that Jesus taught and expects His followers to practice Socialism.

These are the people who are busy rewriting our history to better match their self-loathing anti-American worldview.  These are the ideologues who want God and religious exercise removed, banned and stripped from the public and private square.  These are the people who demand homosexual marriage, indoctrinate our youth with dumbed-down self-esteem garbage and pushing aberrant sex practices and lifestyles on elementary school kids.  These are the ideologues who demand government handouts for selected groups of government dependents, and think big government Socialism is the reason the government exists.  These are the ideologues who do not trust you or I with speech, guns, private property, wealth or liberty to live our lives.  They may all come from separate left-wing groups – but they are all of the Leftist/Socialist mindset and nearly all of them actively campaign for the remaking of America into their image, because they see America and Americans as evil.  They think it is their moral duty to fix the evil that this nation’s existence has wrought upon the globe – because for many of them who claim the mantle of Christianity, they believe all of that rotgut is what Jesus preached and stood for.

They preach Jesus was a Socialist, and they now equate that being a good Christian DEMANDS you be a good Socialist.  The religious and secular Left in America are transforming government to replace the church in ministering to the poor and needy.  Eventually, as all Marxist/Socialist regimes do – they will replace Jesus with the state, and demand government be worshipped.  For Socialist/Marxist despots will suffer no allegiance to any other but themselves and their systems.

Keep Jesus Out of Your Socialism

The headline of the full-page ad asks, “What Would Jesus Cut?—A budget is a moral document.” The text continues, “Our faith tells us that the moral test of a society is how it treats the poor.”

The ad was produced by Sojourners, a self-described “evangelical” organization whose slogan is “Faith in Action for Social Justice.” The ad was signed by Sojourners president Jim Wallis and more than two dozen Religious Left pastors, theologians, and activists. They urge our legislators to ask themselves, “What would Jesus cut?” from the federal budget.

How would you answer that question? My answer would be, “It’s a nonsense question. Your premise is faulty. Your priorities are not His priorities.”

Jesus had many opportunities to confront the Roman government about its spending priorities. It was, after all, one of the most brutal regimes in history. If the question “What would Jesus cut?” has any biblical relevance, we should be able to cite instances where Jesus lectured the Roman oppressors the same way the Religious Left lectures America.

Just compare ancient Rome with America today. Rome sent its armies out to conquer; America sends its soldiers out to liberate. Rome demanded tribute from other nations; America sends aid and emergency relief around the world. Rome enslaved nations; America rebuilds nations.

If the federal budget is a “moral document,” what does it say about America? It suggests to me that America may be the most moral nation on earth! Name one other country that has spent $15 billion fighting AIDS in Africa. Name one other country that has provided more disaster relief, that has built more schools and water treatment plants, that has supplied more food aid around the world, that has sent more doctors, teachers, and technical advisers to developing nations.

Even America’s military budget—much of which is being spent to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan—reflects the basic compassion and unselfishness of the American people. Clearly, America hardly deserves any scolding from the Sojourners soapbox.

Did Jesus ever lecture the Roman Empire about its budget priorities? In Matthew 8, when the Roman centurion approached Jesus in Capernaum, our Lord could have said, “How dare you, a Roman warmonger, come to Me asking favors? Change your priorities! Tell your bosses in Rome to stop buying chariots and start funding welfare programs!” But Jesus didn’t lecture the centurion. He said, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith!”

In Matthew 22, when the Pharisees asked if it was right to pay taxes to Caesar, the Lord could have thundered against Caesar’s misplaced budget priorities. Instead, He said, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

In John 18, Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate, the Roman prefect, a friend of Caesar. Why didn’t He give Pilate an earful about the injustice of Roman rule? If ever there was a time for Jesus to “speak truth to power” and become the “social justice Messiah,” that was it!

But Jesus didn’t preach the social gospel to Pontius Pilate. Oh, he spoke truth to power, all right. He delivered a profound message to Pontius Pilate—and to you and me: “My kingdom is not of this world.”

Now, I’m not saying that Christians are never called to confront their government. God bless Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Confessing Church for standing against Nazi genocide. But that’s not the situation here.

And I’m not saying there isn’t a social and compassionate dimension to the Christian gospel. There certainly is! Jesus had great compassion for the poor.

He preached in Nazareth, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.” He sent word to John the Baptist, “The deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.” Jesus presented the obligation to help the poor as an individual responsibility, a Kingdom responsibility—not the duty of the secular government.

Both the religious and secular Left in America seem to want government to replace the church in ministering to the poor and needy. One of Barack Obama’s first proposals as president was a plan to slash tax deductions for charitable donations by high-income taxpayers. President Obama reasoned that a tax deduction “shouldn’t be a determining factor as to whether you’re giving that hundred dollars to the homeless shelter.” Maybe so—but since private charities do so much good for the poor, why eliminate incentives for charitable giving? Could it be that liberals see private charities as competing with the big government welfare state?

In Romans 13, Paul tells us that we pay our taxes and support the government so that we will have a just, orderly society in which law-abiding citizens are protected from wrongdoers. But the responsibility for mercy and compassion belongs to the church—not the government.

What would Jesus cut? When He stood before the Roman Empire, He didn’t suggest cuts. He received cuts. His flesh was cut by Roman nails and a Roman spear. He was bruised for our transgressions, and with His cuts we are healed. That’s the gospel of Jesus Christ.

…ministering to the poor and the needy among us is the work of Christian individuals and the church, not the secular government. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. . . .” Today’s Religious Left wants to change that to, “He has anointed the federal government to preach good news to the poor.”

The Christian gospel is a message of salvation, not a message of income redistribution and raising our neighbor’s taxes. Jesus said that the way to serve the poor is by giving generously of our own resources. “But when you give a banquet,” He said in Luke 14, “invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

The Religious Left is very generous—with other people’s money. In fact, I believe the founder of the Religious Left was none other than Judas Iscariot. When Mary, the sister of Lazarus, anointed Jesus with costly perfume just days before the crucifixion, Judas lectured her and said, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor?”

Notice that Judas put on a show of caring for the poor—even though the money was Mary’s, not his! The motives of Judas, John 12:6 tells us, were corrupt and self-centered—and Jesus responded with a stinging rebuke.

At least one of the Lord’s disciples was a “social action Christian” in the Sojourners mold: Simon Zelotes (Simon the Zealot). Just as Sojourners president Jim Wallis was once president of the Michigan State chapter of the militant Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), Simon Zelotes was a young political radical who attached himself to Jesus because he thought Jesus would lead a revolt against the Roman Empire.

Simon saw Jesus as a political Messiah who would topple the powerful while lifting up the poor and oppressed. But Jesus was not a political Messiah. He didn’t attack the Roman Empire. He did battle with the Evil Empire of Satan himself.

Jesus didn’t tell the Roman government what its budget priorities should be. Why? Because His agenda was much larger than the agenda of Simon Zelotes or the Religious Left. His eyes were fixed on eternity. He said, “My kingdom is not of this world.”

The Religious Left has missed the meaning of that statement. Yes, there is a place for Christian social action—but that place is in a personal lifestyle of generosity and compassion to the poor. Jesus didn’t tell the rich young ruler to become a political activist and affect public policy. He said, “Go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

It’s true, there’s poverty in America, and some of the poor can’t lift themselves out of poverty without help. Some are physically or socially disadvantaged. Some are down on their luck. They need and deserve Christian compassion and the good news of the gospel.

But a huge number of people receiving government assistance are substance abusers, welfare cheats, or chronically lazy. Doesn’t the Bible tell us, “If a man will not work, he shall not eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10)? Why must the “makers” of society support the “takers” of society? That’s not compassion. That’s theft. Wouldn’t it be more compassionate to encourage the takers to develop self-respect by becoming productive citizens?

Would Jesus endorse government policies that encourage and enable addiction, indolence, and welfare fraud? Certainly not. The Religious Left should read His parables, especially the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the Parable of the Vineyards (Matthew 20:1-16), and the Parable of the Tenants (Matthew 21:33-46). In those parables, Jesus blesses hard work, personal responsibility and the freedom to achieve.

Government programs can’t separate the truly needy from the welfare cheats—but private Christian charities can. Private charities are far more effective than government at meeting needs, changing lives, eliminating fraud and waste, and dispensing compassion. Our stance as Christians should be pro-compassion, not pro-bureaucracy.

The place for compassionate Christian social action is in the church, and in the lives of individual believers. When the church becomes a political pressure group, telling the government, “Confiscate more wealth from those who earned it and give it to those who have not,” then the church has formed an unholy union with the kingdoms of this world.

Income redistribution is not Christianity. It’s Marxism—and mixing the two only pollutes the Gospel and betrays the Great Commission.
