Clinton Bomb/Hostage Incident – Hate To Be Cynical But…..

bomb-strapped.jpg

Hillary Clinton’s campaign headquarters was under an assault by a man with a bomb strapped to his waist and holding hostages on Friday afternoon.

Shortly before 2 p.m., police officers had taken positions across the street from the office, some kneeling behind police cruisers with guns drawn.

A woman and her baby were released by the hostage-taker, the woman told workers at a nearby business, according to the WMUR Web site.

A witness, Lettie Tzizik, told WMUR she spoke to a woman shortly after she was released from the office by the hostage-taker.

“A young woman with a 6-month or 8-month-old infant came rushing into the store just in tears, and she said, ‘You need to call 911. A man has just walked into the Clinton office, opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape,'” the Web site reported.

Updated since the standoff has ended peacefully.

I hate to be cynical – but with the Clinton’s – I have to wonder how this ‘event’ today (which ended without any harm to anyone – thankfully) will be spun.

With her failings last week in the polls and the media attention on the lies of William The Impeached about his “opposition” to the war in Iraq – I have to wonder how they are going to massage this story for the benefit of the election campaign. Some of us recall how, right after the Oklahoma City Bombing the Clinton’s and their machine went into overdrive to blame the attack on “Right Wing Hate radio’ – specifically Limbaugh and other Conservative hosts for “creating terrorists” opposed to government. Will this mental nutcase today end up being labeled a product of dangerous “right wing extremists”, and generate sympathy for a ‘victim’ candidate – or whether the discussion will move towards how “Bush’s war in Iraq” has left mental health treatments underfunded.

I am positive however, that the incident will become a political tool in her quest for the throne.

The Disconcerting Truth of the Company Ron Paul Keeps

Thankfully, other people are starting to notice the dangerous cabal of misfits and revolutionistas that make up the Mob Zombies of Ron Paul supporters.

I’m not alone in my observations.

Ron Paul’s Fair Weather Friends

Much has already been made of the interest shown in the Ron Paul campaign by groups on the reactionary right, from 9/11 ‘truthers’ to white supremacists. Less widely reported but of growing concern to those watching the Paul campaign and wondering if it is going wildly astray is the involvement of far-left groups who are flocking to Paul’s banner for reasons which may be genuine or may mask an effort to undermine the entire Republican primary. I like Ron Paul and what he stands for on a great many issues and especially his devotion to the Constitution, but I can’t help but worry about the unsavory character his campaign is beginning to develop.

Stories are circulating on GOP email lists of interested Republicans attending Ron Paul meetups around the country and being confronted by openly hostile leftist/progressive/socialists who seem to be supporting Paul, but have no love for regular Republicans who also support the candidate. There are accounts that confrontations have become heated at some of these meetups, particularly the one held in Las Vegas earlier this month. Suspicion particularly focuses on attendees who are believed to be MoveOn.org operatives and why they are so interested in Ron Paul. Is their interest genuine, or is it only part of a campaign to disrupt the Republican primary?

The involvement of MoveOn.org in the Paul campaign can be confirmed on their page at meetup.com where they are shown as co-sponsoring a number of the regional Ron Paul meetups and they have also released a video ad in support of Paul. Paul’s campaign has also received positive public response from a variety of prominent leftists, including Cindy Sheehan. One socialist in the Netherlands of all places, makes a compelling argument for why US socialists should support Ron Paul.

Most Republicans see the objectives of MoveOn.org as inherently antithetical to the basic beliefs of the Republican Party. MoveOn.org is an openly anti-Republican, anti-Conservative and anti-Libertarian organization which is openly funded by a wealthy international socialist whose goal is to undermine and control the Democratic Party, and it is largely run by people with past associations with the Communist Party USA and the Democratic Socialists of America. With its position at the far left of the American Political spectrum and as the main instrument through which George Soros seeks to undermine and control the American political system, it is understandable how Republicans might be concerned about MoveOn.org’s interest in and support of Ron Paul.

The key to Paul’s popularity on the left lies with his opposition to the Iraq War, but also with the suppor the has from a segment of the traditional Libertarian Party constituency, the left-libertarians or social anarchists. This element of the broad alliance which makes up the Libertarian Party, where Paul was once a prominent figure and presidential candidate, is philosophically compatible with the most extreme parts of the socialist leaning wing of the Democratic Party. As typified by Justin Raimondo, they are the anti-property, anti-war and anti-nationalist element of libertarianism. They differ from typical ‘minarchist’ libertarians and neolibertarians in their outspoken hostility to the Republican Party and their unwillingness to compromise their extreme principles in the interest of political reality. Strangely they don’t have the same hostility towards the Democrats, and many of them see socialists as their natural allies. As the Democratic Party becomes more dominated by socialist factions it becomes more appealing to them. Their enthusiastic support for Paul means that there is a nucleus within his following which is already allied with forces within the farthest left part of the Democratic Party, and they have been drawing on that association to bring more leftist/progressives into Paul’s camp.

Paul seems willing to take support from wherever he can get it and doesn’t seem particularly concerned that socialists may try to influence his campaign or distort the nomination process in the Republican primaries. Although he has promised that if he fails to get the nomination he will not jump parties and run as a Libertarian, he doesn’t seem to care that the newly registered pseudo-Republicans he’s creating will leave the party the moment the primary is over, even if one of the more moderate somewhat libertarian candidates wins.

In a recent interview with LibertyWatch Paul makes very clear that he’s aware of his appeal to the left. He commented that:

“Right now, liberals are the most enthusiastic about my campaign. If I get a speech on the House floor on foreign policy, I’ll get many hundreds — sometimes thousands — of comments sent to my office. I would say 90 percent of them are from Democrats.”

He doesn’t seem particularly concerned, and even accepts the idea that these supporters are ‘liberals’, even though it’s pretty clear that they don’t believe in most of the same liberal ideas that Paul or other libertarians in the Republican Party support. Paul even acknowledges this:
“liberals are very, very frustrated with their own Democrats. Although they know I have shortcomings from their viewpoint — because I’m for free enterprise and free markets — they love my position on civil liberties and they love my position on war.”

He’s clearly willing to take support from wherever he can get it, which is understandable, but it does put his loyalty to the Republican party and true libertarian ideals in question, as much as his unwillingness to speak out against the racists, conspiracy fanatics and other extremists who support him does.
It is Paul’s anti-war position which seems to drive much of the interest of the left in his campaign, which begs the question of whether their support is genuine, or just based on the single issue of the War in Iraq? Do they support Paul and everything he stands for or do they just see his candidacy as a chance to strike a blow against the evil Republican warmongers in their own primary. What will leftist/progressives who are flocking to register Republican so that they can vote for Paul do if he doesn’t get nominated? Would they stick with a candidate like Mike Huckabee or Fred Thompson who share many of Paul’s positions on issues other than the Iraq War, or will they flee back to the Democratic party once Paul loses the nomination and they’ve done as much damage to the primary process as they can? Perhaps the most important question for Republicans is whether Paul could hold onto some of their votes in a national election if he were a Vice Presidential candidate?

Paul seems to have decided that whatever advances his campaign is a good idea, no matter where that support comes from or what strings may be attached to it. Distressing though it may be to admit, it looks like ambition is turning Ron Paul into a real politician.

Ron Paul Attracts Kooks, Nuts, Jihadists and Brothels

paulbuglight.jpg

I’m convinced.

Ron Paul is a bug light.

One of theose blue light zappers that hang on many a porch in the humid nights of summer that attract bugs from miles around.

Like a magnet to the nation’s anti-war nincompoops, peaceniks, conspiracy theorists, Precious metal peddlers, Che Guevera lovers, Anarchists, neo-nazis, and anyone who hates something, or anything about America.

It should come then as no surprise that because Ron Paul attracts the outcast and disaffected of America, that he should also attract the Whorehouse vote.

Yes, Brothel lovers of free, unhindered debaucherous sex everywhere, toss their – um…..underpants and whatever else into the Ron Paul campaign for President.

They support a guy that truly believes in ‘feel the love’.

Ron Paul Endoresed by Bunny Ranch Brothel Owner

RENO, Nev. — Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, an underdog Texas congressman with a libertarian streak, has picked up an endorsement from a Nevada brothel owner.

Dennis Hof, owner of the Moonlite BunnyRanch near Carson City, said he was so impressed after hearing Paul at a campaign stop in Reno last week that he decided to raise money for him.

“I’ll get all the (working girls) together, and we can raise him some money,” Hof told the Reno Gazette-Journal. “I’ll put up a collection box outside the door. They can drop in $1, $5 contributions.”

Hof and two of his prostitutes, Brooke Taylor and a woman who goes by Air Force Amy, attended a Paul news conference.

Ron Paul – the non-interventionist, white-flag-waving appeasement anti-war surrender monkey

paulnutz.jpg

Yes, I’m once again going to risk the threats of violence and death from the Ron Paul Mob Zombies. Let’s see how quick the U-boat Commanders in the RuPaul Sub Net fleet picks up this ping and sends their pack herds to try and torpedo the blog.

The CNN YouTube debate last night was a clear illustration of the fact the Clinton News Network is part and parcel an operative propaganda arm for the Democrat/Stalinist Left. It been learned that there were at least 4- countem FOUR – political plants that either asked questions or had videos shown asking questions, including the Homosexual General who has been a CNN guest in the past as well as Edwards, Obama and Hillary supporters who asked questions for the purpose of harming the candidates rather than finding out what they stand for. CNN made an obvious display of it’s willing propaganda to paint the GOP in the brushes of how the Left views the GOP, by framing the debate and choosing stupid, silly, irreverent agenda-based questions that are provinces of the Democrat Left. I do not recall that Gays in the Military, abortion, the death penalty or that the Confederate Flag were major issues concerning all Americans right now. Of course those issues are the heart and soul of the Democrat Left.

However, the only bright spot in that sickening display – was that all of the candidates handled the attempted sabotage very well – including Ron Paul. The silver lining being that the true colors of each candidate began to emerge as well. Only one of the candidates displayed any real sense of Conservatism – and NO – it was NOT Ron Paul. Most showcased moderate liberalism, polished political rhetoric, and the typical Establishment Blue Blood Urban Elitism that disgusted the majority of Conservatives and had them sitting home in November 2006.

Ron Paul simply showcased why he is a better running mate for Socialist Dennis Kuccinich than a GOP Candidate. While most of the Republican field is filled with moderate and liberal establishment politicians, Ron Paul’s rabid kook Libertarianism makes him a stand-out white-flag waving appeasement anti-war surrender monkey.

The booing of John McCain by Ron Paul Mob Zombies in the audience was one of the low points of disgust in last night’s debate.

But it is Ron Paul’s own words that continue to illustrate him the same Defeat At All Costs Surrender Monkey that Murtha, Pelosi and Reid are. Ron Paul insists we are losing in Iraq – when even the Liberal media has had to concede in the past few weeks that the surge is achieving huge success.

Here is an exchange from last night’s debate – the transcript directly from CNN.com:

“Already, part of their country has been taken back. In the south, they claim the surge has worked, but the surge really hasn’t worked. There’s less violence, but al-Sadr has essentially won in the south.”

Ron Paul more-or-less just granted a Jihadist, who has shot at and killed Americans and Brits, CREDIT for establishing a peace, as if the efforts of our troops had nothing to do with it.

It is SHAMELESS. It’s DISGUSTING, and it showcases exactly why Ron Paul is the kind of nitwit kook that needs to be ignored and shunned by this party and the electorate. He is as invested in defeat and retreat as the Democrat Leftists are.

While Duncan Hunter states that he will “never Apologize for America”, all Ron Paul is capable of is BLAMING America at each and every turn and time he gets in front of a microphone.

McCain called Paul’s position the same kind of “Isolationism that caused World War II” to which Ron Paul vigorously shook his head in the negative while smiling smugly, even while McCain was relaying the message from troops he had Thanksgiving with IN Iraq, to “Let us win”.

Ron Paul does not think we are winning, and will NOT let us win if he has anything to say about it. Ron Paul’s idea of winning, is running home and engaging in an INSANE version of Isolationist “non-Interventionism” that has America retreat from the world while sitting down to tea and trade talks with anyone and everyone – REGARDLESS of who they are or whether or not they are Al Qaeda nutjobs with intents to nuke NY. Ron Paul operates from the ridiculous and stupid premise that America’s enemies are merely reactionist to our presence in their nations when the simple fact of Jihadist Islam’s expansion into non-interventionist nations is well documented.

I’m not an isolationism, (shakes head) em, isolationist. I want to trade with people, talk with people, travel.

He wants to be a rock star. Well gee whiz! Even North Korea trades and talks with people in Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, and every other America-hating regime on the planet. The difference between the Isolationism of North Korea and what Ron Paul wants for America is that Ron Paul will trade and chate with EVERYONE – regardless whether or not they have intentions to blow us off this rock.

But I don’t want to send troops overseas using force to tell them how to live.

Of course not. Ron Paul is content to let those people who, plan, plot and train to kill America and Americans to live their dreams and fantasies of bringing Islamic Prophecy to pass unhindered.

Ron Paul buys into the notion that if you leave a hornet’s nest alone near a playground when you know it is there – no harm will ever come to kids playing there.

We would object to it here and they’re going to object to us over there.

Ron Paul AGAIN thinking that the world thinks just like he does. Of COURSE the world objects to America being involved in the world! We prevent despotic madmen and movements from taking it over and subjugating neighbors and entire regions to brutal slavery and death – whether it be Communism or Jihadism.

Ron Paul would rather we simply leave them all alone. That kind of lunacy has no business being in the office of the CINC.

I would rather the GOP leave Ron Paul alone, to his Libertarian insanities where he better belongs.

Despite his non-answer of whether or not he will run 3rd Party – I think when he does not get the GOP nomination – his Mob Zombies will impress on him to run anyway as a 3rd party.

Which will then fulfill what I’ve been saying all along, Ron Paul is 2008’s Ross Perot.

Annapolis – Roadmap To Ruin For A Declaration of Peace In Our Time

seespeak-no-evil.jpg

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. – Zechariah 12:2-3

“Israelis “must show the world that they are ready to … bring an end to the occupation that began in 1967 through a negotiated settlement” – President George Bush, November 27, 2007

One has to wonder whether or not President Bush graduated Sunday School or History Class given his Administration’s meddling and hamstringing of Israel at Annapolis this week. In what appears to be a hunt for a legacy besides the War on Terror and Amnesty for Illegal Mexicans – Bush is apparently once again on the path of insanity to push forward another one of his twisted ideas of homogeny. The consequences of this insanity however, will prove to be deadly. He is ignoring biblical admonitions as well as the lessons of history that scream out loud that trading land NEVER results in peace. What Bush suggests is no less than for Israel to commit national suicide, and to reward terrorists and genocidal maniacs their fondest wishes for the annihilation of the State of Israel.

It appears that Bush’s screwball notions of “new tone” – by letting Democrats dictate and influence his Administration’s policies has now made it’s way into U.S. Foreign policy. While many in his Administration were displeased with Nancy Pelosi and other leading Democrats visiting with, having an audience with President Basher Assad and appeasing the Axis Of Evil Member Syria earlier this year – Condi Rice has out-butt licked them all by granting Syria and almost 40 other hostile Arab and Islamic nations a SEAT at the table in discussing the future of Israel with their fellow terrorists in Palestine and Arabia.

Someone please help me understand the reason behind this lunacy, but it looks an awful lot like Bush hosting a dinner party for three dozen wolves and a sheep – and letting them decide what is for dinner.

Have our leaders in Washington completely lost their minds and forgot what happened when other ‘legacy’ Nimrods like Neville Chamberlain tried to carve up and surrender the Sudetenland to Adolph Hitler in 1938? Do they deliberately forget that every single time Israel has surrendered land to the Palestinians, that those territories became launching pads for asymmetric terrorist attacks on Israelis? Did Bush suddenly forget that the territory Israel holds was the result of an aggressive war being waged on it in 1948, 1967 and 1973 by the same nations who chant for the death of Israel and America??

Let’s see, aside from Israeli Premier Ehud Olmert, who has never met a trade he did not like – seated at the table is Mahmoud Abbas, head of Hamas and so-called leader of a future –Palestinian State that still holds kidnapped Israeli soldiers as hostages. Also seated are leaders of nations that support Jihad terrorists groups such as Fatah, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Al Qaeda, Islamic Jihad, Islamic Brotherhood, and almost 30 other nations with Jihad elements in them.

Bush requests that Israel ‘end the occupation’ and surrender the lands it acquired during the three wars waged against it by the same nations now seated at the table Bush has set to crown his legacy of ‘changing the Mid-East’. One has to wonder how many days hence will pass before we hear about a request by the Bush Administration for Israel to hand all of Jerusalem over to the Palestinians – since it is evident he will do everything and anything to secure a statement of peace from Israel and the Arab nations.

Bush is setting up a table for disaster, as assuredly as Chamberlain and Daladier had 70 years ago. Both America and Britain will be cut to pieces for attempting to force a peace on Israel with people who have as much a mind for peace as Hitler did, and whom have no intention of allowing Jews to live or exist in the Middle East anymore than the Fuhrer did of Jews in Europe.

This will come back to bite America and the West HARD, and we will rue the day we engendered this kind of insanity on Israel and the world.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. – I Thessalonians 5:3

Jihad Riots in Paris AGAIN – This Time – Media Is Silent About Whom Is Rioting.

muslim-riots.jpg

The Jihad in France is back on.

The growing immigrant class and second generation Muslim immigrants to France have again taken to the streets to torch, burn and bring forth the promised ‘rage’ of the Muslim people to the suburbs of the City of Lights.

The newest incident of rage was sparked by the deaths of two immigrants on a stolen motorcycle being pursued by police that resulted in a fatal crash. This time however, the complicity of the Leftist mainstream media with Jihadists is evident in it’s silence about what kind of people are actually rioting outside of declaring them “youths”. As one account states – they are taking orders from “elders” to riot, but the word “Imams” does not appear.

It’s as if the West is insisting if we shut our eyes tight enough and stop up our ears, the truth and reality of what is taking place will go away and we can pretend it’s about inequality and economic oppression – and not the Jihad that looks for any spark to light the fuse.

Notice the lack of noting who these rioters are outside of calling them youths.

New riots rock Paris suburbs

VILLIERS LE BEL (AFP) – A second night of riots by youths in a Paris suburb left more than 80 police injured, buildings gutted and France on Tuesday facing heightened tensions in towns north of the capital.

Late into the night, around 100 young men again hurled petrol bombs and bricks at police in the town of Villiers le Bel, where on Sunday two teenagers were killed in a motorbike collision with a police car.

Faced with the worst eruption of urban violence since the riots of 2005, President Nicolas Sarkozy was to chair a special meeting on the unrest on Wednesday, after returning from a state visit to China.

The president was also to meet the families of the victims, aged 15 and 16, at the Elysee palace Wednesday morning.

Monday night’s violence left several buildings damaged by fire in Villiers, just north of Paris, including a tax office, a supermarket, a library and a nursery school, as well as 63 vehicles. Six people were arrested during the troubles, which lasted about six hours, police said.

A report from Le Monde newspaper described boys as young as 13 taking orders from their elders to torch buildings and forming battle ranks against the police, vowing to “do in” a “pig”(infidel??) — a police officer.

Authorities said guns were used against police, whose unions described the violence as worse than the rioting that hit hundreds of French cities in November 2005 — also sparked by the deaths of two youths.

According to police figures, 82 officers were injured Monday night, four of them seriously after being hit by buckshot from hunting weapons.

The Synergie police union said the youths were using “urban guerrilla” tactics.

“Two things are cause for anxiety: signs that the violence is spreading to neighbouring areas, which have already had their share of burned cars, and the almost systematic use of fire-arms against police,” said Douhane Mohamed of the union.

“We are coming close to a catastrophe with the use of firearms against police,” said another police union UNSA.

Smaller outbreaks of violence also flared in five other high-immigration neighbourhoods of the north Paris suburbs, not far from the starting-point of the 2005 riots.

Prime Minister Francois Fillon visited the scene Tuesday and announced a beefed up security presence for the night to come.

“While justice is taking its course, nothing can justify the violence that took place last night. These acts are unacceptable, they are intolerable. People who fire guns at police are criminals and will be treated as such,” he said.

An initial investigation appeared to confirm the police version of Sunday’s incident, according to which the two teenagers — neither wearing a crash helmet — were riding a motorbike that careered into their car.

But relatives of the two youths and some other local people appeared convinced that the police had caused the accident and fled the scene without treating the victims.

Police and politicians say the French suburbs remain a “tinderbox” two years after the 2005 riots, which exposed France’s failure to integrate its large black and Arab population, the children and grandchildren of immigrants from its African colonies.

“This is no place for human beings to live,” said local resident Boniface Gabo, pointing up at his grimy tower block. “Make no mistake, every hundred kids who grow up here are a hundred lost kids.”

The main opposition Socialists, while appealing for calm, accused the right-wing governments of Sarkozy and his predecessor Jacques Chirac of “abandoning” the suburbs to their fate.

But Nadine Morano, spokeswoman for Sarkozy’s Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) warned “there is no magic wand.”

“It is going to take us a generation to transform things in these difficult neighbourhoods — housing, jobs, security.”

Danger From The South: Inciting A Socialist Revolution In America

amerorevolution.jpg

To compound the problems America is already beset with our faltering economy and the war on Jihadists – comes word that Venezuela, having allied itself with Iran, is sponsoring forums to promote a militant Socialist Revolution in America.

Given the Socialist slide America is already on, and the precarious situation in Mexico, Communists like Chavez think America is ripe for chaos, revolution and takeover, from both invasion from the South, and from revolution within.

Venezuela forum debates prospects for revolution in U.S.

CARACAS, Venezuela—A five-day rolling panel discussion on “United States: A possible revolution” was the central event at the third Venezuela International Book Fair, which took place here November 9-18.

The 22 panelists, four or five of whom spoke each day, included political activists and writers from the United States expressing diverse political views, as well as a number of U.S. citizens living in Venezuela. Hundreds of Venezuelans and others took part in one or more sessions, with dozens raising questions and making comments from the floor. The forum was covered by Venezuelan television, radio, and newspapers. The issues debated on the character of the working class and prospects for revolution in the United States sparked a political discussion that permeated the book fair. An article on the fair itself will appear in next week’s Militant.

The forum kicked off November 10 with presentations by Mary-Alice Waters, a member of the Socialist Workers Party National Committee and president of Pathfinder Press; Eva Golinger, a Venezuelan-American lawyer and author of The Chávez Code; Chris Carlson, a contributor to the venezuelanalysis.com website; and Tufara Waller, cultural program coordinator of the Highlander Center in Tennessee. The issues joined at that first session remained at the center of the debate the following four days. (See “Venezuela book fair theme: ‘U.S., a possible revolution’” in last week’s Militant.)

In addition to the forum panelists mentioned below, others included Bernardo álvarez, Venezuela’s ambassador to the United States; former University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill; August Nimtz, a University of Minnesota political science professor; William Blum, an author who has written a number of books opposing U.S. foreign policy; ex-Maryknoll priest Charles Hardy; and Dada Maheshvarananda, yoga instructor and founder of the Prout Institute.

Debate over immigrant workers The political perspectives most sharply debated over the five days were, first, the impact and importance of millions of Latin American immigrant workers in the United States, and, second, the history of revolutionary struggles of working people in the United States and the lessons of those struggles for revolutionary prospects. In a striking way, the discussion registered that those living and engaged in the class struggle in the United States generally expressed greater confidence in the revolutionary capacities of working people there than did those—both U.S. citizens and many Latin American participants—living outside the United States.

Several panelists are active in work to expand rights for immigrants in the United States. These included Diógenes Abreu, a Dominican-born community organizer who currently lives in New York; Luis Rodríguez, a Chicano activist in California’s San Fernando Valley; and Gustavo Torres, an organizer for the immigrant rights group Casa de Maryland. Several of them gave a vivid and accurate picture of conditions of life for immigrant workers in the United States and the growing resistance and confidence manifested in strikes and ongoing street mobilizations against raids and deportations.

Both Torres and Antonio González, president of the Southwest Voter Education and Registration Project, said the road to “empowerment” is organizing Latinos to vote. “What does a revolutionary do in the U.S. today?” asked González. “Take power wherever you can” by electing Latinos to city, state, and federal offices. His PowerPoint presentation highlighted the growing number of Latino voters.

During the discussion periods day after day, a number of participants from Venezuela and elsewhere in Latin America took exception to the evidence that immigrant workers resisting the superexploitation they face in the United States are an important force in the working-class vanguard that is emerging there. In various ways, several said that Latin Americans living and working in the United States are simply there to get “a piece of the pie.”

“They are only there to get passports,” said one participant. “Once they get them they’ll stop marching.” Many characterized immigrant workers as sellouts who have bought into the “American dream” at the expense of fighting for political, economic, and social change in Latin America.

In the discussion, Carlos Samaniego, a packinghouse worker from Minnesota, countered this view. He described the vanguard role that immigrant workers are playing in struggles in the United States—from coal mines in the West to union struggles in Midwest slaughterhouses.

America’s revolutionary heritage The other hotly debated question was the revolutionary history of toilers in the United States and, by extension, prospects for a Third American Revolution, a socialist revolution.

“America was created by revolution,” said panelist Lee Sustar, labor editor of the Socialist Worker newspaper, which reflects the views of the International Socialist Organization. Speaking at the November 13 session, he referred to the U.S. Civil War as “the completion of the bourgeois democratic revolution” that had won independence for the 13 British colonies some 80 years earlier.

“There has never been a revolution in the United States, and anyone who thinks there has been is ignorant of their own history,” responded panelist Richard Gott, a British author and journalist. Gott said the American Revolution, which defeated British colonial rule, could not be considered a revolution. Rather, it was a war to take land from Native American tribes, whose territory, he said, was being protected by the British royal army.

“No, a revolution is not possible in the United States,” said Gott. “It is conservative and reactionary. The only hope is Latin America.”

“I want to express my total agreement,” interjected Haiman El Troudi, the moderator of the panel that day. “There never has been a revolution in the United States and never will be!” El Troudi has held several offices in the Chávez government and written books including Being Capitalist is Bad Business and History of the Bolivarian Revolution.

“It is impossible for a revolution to begin in the United States,” said a Venezuelan participant from the floor. He pointed to what he considered U.S. workers’ complicity with Washington’s wars against Iraq and Afghanistan as proof that working people there are desensitized to injustice.

But in remarks during the November 11 panel, ex-Marine and founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War Jimmy Massey described his evolution from a prowar patriot to a staunch opponent of the war in Iraq. He walked through day-to-day experiences in Iraq that led him to oppose U.S. policies in the Middle East and to organize fellow soldiers to do the same.

Another idea frequently expressed by speakers from the floor and by a few panelists was that “change has to come from the South,” referring to Latin America. Many said the only hope was to wait until enough countries in Latin America close their doors to imperialist penetration so as to cause a collapse in the U.S. economy. The fact that nowhere in Latin America but Cuba have working people yet successfully carried through to victory the kind of revolutionary struggle necessary to end imperialist domination received scant attention.

Some participants argued that U.S. capitalism would be thrown into crisis if enough leftist governments were elected in Latin America and refused to sign bilateral “free-trade” agreements with Washington or join the U.S.-initiated Free Trade Area of the Americas. Others pointed to popular struggles in Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Nicaragua as being the key to educating working people in the United States. Despite different arguments and emphases, the point of agreement was that no initiative could be expected from working people inside the imperialist bastion.

A contrasting point of view was presented by Héctor Pesquera, a leader of the Hostosiano Independence Movement of Puerto Rico. “The Puerto Rican struggle is connected to the North American revolution,” he said. Pesquera summarized the worsening conditions facing both working people in Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans living in New York. Pointing to the movement that forced Washington to withdraw its naval bases from the Puerto Rican island of Vieques, Pesquera noted that this blow to the U.S. rulers had strengthened social movements in the United States.

“I’m going to take issue with what every one of you has said,” stated Amiri Baraka, a poet from Newark, New Jersey, speaking from the audience. Baraka, a panelist on the closing day of the event, has been active in Black nationalist, Maoist, and Democratic Party politics since the 1960s. Attacking Sustar for not identifying himself as a “Trotskyite,” and falsely accusing fellow panelist George Katsiaficas of introducing himself as a former member of the Black Panthers, Baraka’s intervention was the first time in four days of sharp debate that the tone of civil discourse was breached.

Final session “When I first heard the theme of this forum, I thought it was a joke,” said Steve Brouwer, an American living in Venezuela and writing a book on peasant cooperatives. Brouwer was a panelist at the final session. “But the more I thought about what is happening in the world, the more I listened to my Latino brothers here, the more I became convinced that revolutionary change in the U.S. is possible.”

Brouwer said that working-class complacency in the United States in the 1920s had given way to labor battles in the 1930s that shaped U.S. politics for 45 years. He cited a “mildly progressive” Democratic Party, influenced by these developments in the labor movement, as key to what he called a progressive course that ended with the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980.

Amiri Baraka and Amina Baraka were also panelists at the final session.

Amina Baraka, introducing herself as “a Black woman who is a communist who uses the cultural arena,” spoke about her work and read a poem.

Amiri Baraka came back to the previous day’s discussion, disagreeing with Gott and others who denied the two great revolutions in U.S. history. He also disagreed with Sustar’s characterization of the Civil War as the completion of the bourgeois democratic revolution.

“That revolution has never been completed,” Baraka said. “There is still no democracy for Blacks.” He proposed that Blacks and Latinos, including the “progressive” Black bourgeoisie, unite around a program to abolish the electoral college; establish a unicameral parliamentary system; ban “private money” from election campaigns; make voting compulsory; and restore voting rights to felons. Such constitutional reforms, he said, would shift power towards “people’s democracy” in the United States. Revolutionary goals could then be put on the agenda.

What has derailed all previous revolutionary struggles in the United States, Baraka argued, is “white privilege.” He citied the defeat of Radical Reconstruction following the Civil War, the failure of the 1930s labor upsurge to go further, and the decline of the mass movement that brought down Jim Crow segregation as three examples. Moreover, “white privilege” and the failure of the “white left” to fight it remain the primary obstacle to struggles today.

Baraka also renewed his attack on Katsiaficas, who had spoken about Asian student struggles on the panel the previous day. Baraka accused him of being an agent trying to stir up support in Venezuela for student marches against the government of Hugo Chávez.

Baraka concluded by reading his poem, “Somebody Blew Up America,” a Spanish translation of which was distributed to participants. Written after September 11, 2001, the poem presents a long list of historical atrocities, interlacing anti-imperialist and anticapitalist rhetoric with conspiracy theories of history and anti-Semitism. “Who decide Jesus get crucified,” the poem asks. “Who knew the World Trade Center was gonna get bombed / Who told 4000 Israeli workers at the Twin Tower / To stay home that day / Why did Sharon stay away?”

During the opening day of the panel, a participant from Panama had said during the discussion that Jews are the main problem facing working people in the world today because “they have all the money” and control everything. Norton Sandler, a member of the Socialist Workers Party in the United States, spoke from the floor the next day and pointed to the danger of scapegoating and Jew-hatred for the working-class movement.

After Baraka’s remarks the final day, Mary-Alice Waters took the floor to thank the organizers of the book fair “for bringing together diverse forces for such a broad variety of views for the discussion that took place here.” She stressed the importance of civil debate, noting that “the poison of agent- and race-baiting should be rejected by all.”

Some prominent speakers invited to take part in the central forum were unable to make it during that event, but joined the discussion in the following days.

A November 17 program on “Liberation, Imagination, Black Panthers” featuring Kathleen Cleaver, former national spokesperson for the Black Panther Party, was one of the larger events of the fair outside the central forum. A video interview with Noam Chomsky, the well-known author, anarchist, and a linguistics professor, was played after the conclusion of the forum, and a booklet containing a translation of his comments was distributed for free.

Ramón Medero, president of Venezuela’s National Book Center, the sponsor of the fair, expressed his appreciation to all the panelists whose efforts had contributed to the success of the event, and satisfaction that the fair served to open a much-needed political discussion.

The True History and Real Meaning of Thanksgiving

pilgrim-thanks.jpg

It is a sad travesty that we are losing our true historical understanding and heritage of our national traditions. They are RICH with incredible meaning, purpose and understanding of our many national blessings that we take for granted.

When you understand our true history – the appreciation we should have for our Patriarchs and their relationship with God should serve as a model that we should once again emulate in terms of how grateful we need to be as a People before God.

The following is an essay from my mentor and freind Peter Marshall, who understands our true religious history better than anyone I have ever had the pleasure of reading, hearing or studying under.

Thanksgiving 2007

Why should we celebrate Thanksgiving? Is this holiday just the annual American fall holiday that President Abraham Lincoln put on the calendar during the Civil War, or does it have a special significance for us above and beyond its tradition?
For most of us, Thanksgiving is about family, feasting, and football—approximately in that order. If we think about God at all, it usually involves saying a few simple pre-turkey-carving prayers of thanksgiving for His blessings during the year which is now fast ebbing away.

But, had it not been for the hand of God watching over that hardy little band of Pilgrims that found themselves thrown up on the shores of Massachusetts in 1620, there would have been no first New England thanksgiving. And quite probably, no modern holiday to celebrate.

What keeps modern Americans from properly understanding who the Pilgrims were, and the pivotally important role they played in our history? That we are not taught the whole truth about why they came to America. Every school child has been told for decades upon decades that the Pilgrims came to America for religious liberty, or religious freedom. Not quite right. Shallow history teaching.

In reality they were missionaries, coming to the New World to plant the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the wilderness. As their great governor and chronicler, William Bradford, wrote: “They had a great hope and inward zeal of laying some good foundation…for the propagating and advancing the Gospel of the kingdom of Christ in those remote parts of the world; yea, though they should be but even as stepping-stones unto others for the performing of so great a work.” Obviously, they had a strong sense of call and mission.

What is special about the Pilgrims is that these English evangelical Christian exiles actually layed the moral, spiritual, and governmental foundations of America at Plymouth (see our book The Light and the Glory, and my DVD “Pilgrims, Puritans, and Patriots,” and the DVD teaching seminar “Restoring America” — all available on my website). But it was only by God’s repeated intervention that they survived to accomplish their calling.

With other Puritans, they had endured vicious religious persecution in England, having been arrested often by the King’s soldiers and imprisoned by sheriffs. Finally, fleeing for their lives to Holland, they settled in the town of Leyden. There they enjoyed religious freedom for 12 years. But, toward the end of this time, it became increasing clear to them that God was calling them to leave Holland and come to America.

Consider the fact that, if their motivation had been primarily about religious liberty, they could have stayed where they were. They already had it. But what compelled them was much deeper than that. They were missionaries. They weren’t running away from anything when they came to America — they were obeying the call of Christ on their lives!

Leaving Leyden in mid-summer, they traveled in barges to Delfthaven, and boarded the small ship Speedwell for the short trip to Southampton, England. There they met the Mayflower, the larger merchant vessel they had leased for the occasion, and additional English passengers whom these “saints,” as they called themselves, quickly dubbed “the strangers.” Delayed by leakage problems with the Speedwell, they finally had to abandon her in Plymouth, England, and there all who remained committed to the expedition were crowded on the Mayflower. It was early September as the last glimpses of England faded from view and the Mayflower gamely launched out into the vast North Atlantic ocean.

The first few weeks at sea proved to be balmy sailing weather, but then the voyage turned nasty. Their delays had put them squarely into the fall storm season. The old freighter soon found herself battered by fierce gales and towering waves of sea-green water. While the crew tied themselves with ropes to the masts and rigging to stay on board the tossing ship, their captain, Master Jones, had ordered below the 102 men, women, and children passengers. They were confined in the “tween-decks,” the cargo area of the old ship — about 90 feet long, and 25 feet wide, with only 5.5 feet of head room. In these storms, with people being simultaneously thrown from side to side and violently pitched up and down; with children crying and adults throwing up; with the stench of vomit, animals, and unwashed bodies; and with the sea water leaking through the deck above, the conditions must have been almost unbearable. The passengers tried to cope with their fears as best they could by chanting Psalms from the Bible, which welded saints and strangers alike into a praying congregation of desperate Pilgrims.

They had good cause to be afraid. In the midst of one terrible storm, there was suddenly a loud crack! One of the large beams that held the mainmast in place had snapped, and now was dangerously sagging. Should that beam give way, the mast would fall and the ship would surely founder, with the loss of all passengers and crew. By the grace of God, the Pilgrims had brought with them a large iron screw, which was found and quickly hoisted into place under the beam. Buttressed with other pieces by the ship’s carpenter, young John Alden, the beam thankfully held.

In the midst of yet another storm, John Howland, a young twenty-something indentured servant of the Pilgrims’ first governor, John Carver, found himself unable to take the confinement any longer. He lifted the hatch and stepped out on deck. In seconds the next huge wave washed him overboard, and Howland found himself in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. Only minutes away from freezing to death, as he was going under the waves, one of the ropes from the ship’s rigging just “happened” to snake across his wrist. Instinctively, his hand closed on it, and the crew managed to haul him back on board.

Just luck or a coincidence? I don’t think so, and neither did the Pilgrims. God’s hand had intervened once again, and John Howland knew it. He became one of the leading elders in the Plymouth colony.

After enduring storms for 44 days out of their 66 day voyage, the weakened and sick passengers at last sighted land on November 9th, 1620. It was Cape Cod. Turning south, toward their original destination in the northern part of the Virginia Colony (today’s New Jersey shore), the ship soon got caught in the shoals off the bottom elbow of the Cape. After fighting through this for a day and getting nowhere, the Pilgrim leadership prayed and decided that God wanted them to stay there and start a separate colony. Master Jones sailed north and anchored the Mayflower in the lee curl of Cape Cod’s tip, in what is today Provincetown harbor.

There they re-assembled the one-masted sailboat they had brought in pieces on the ship, and prayerfully launched a hand-picked crew to sail around the inside perimeter of Cape Cod Bay and search for the right location for their colony. Providentially, in the midst of a blinding December snowstorm, they were blown into Plymouth harbor. After spending a cold and miserable night on a small island, and resting the next day on the Sabbath, they came ashore at Plymouth to find the ground cleared and recently cultivated, but no Indians anywhere to be seen. Strangely, the area was littered with human bones.

Concluding that God had prepared this place for the colony, they sailed back across the bay to fetch the Mayflower. After anchoring the ship in Plymouth harbor, they commuted from ship to shore in the ship’s boat, and began construction on a common house. There they could sleep and store supplies until they were able to start building their houses.

But, with no shelter, and immune systems weakened by the rough voyage, they began to get sick. Colds became bronchitis, and pneumonia set in. The dreaded killer of ship’s passengers—scurvy—and other “wasting sicknesses” ravaged their number. With no effective medicines, they began to die. In January and February the deaths sometimes reached two and three a day; 17 dying in February alone. At one point, there were only five people well enough to be on their feet, caring for the rest. Toward the end of March, when the worst was over, they had lost 47 of their number. Of the 18 wives who had come, 13 had died. Only three families remained unbroken. They were in real trouble, for the food they had brought on the Mayflower was virtually gone, and they were facing an unhospitable wilderness.

But God’s greatest miracle for them was on its way! On March 16th, 1621, a lone Indian, clad only in a loincloth, walked boldly up to them and said: “Welcome, Englishmen!” After the Pilgrims had recovered from this surprise, they had found out that his name was Samoset, and that he had come from Massasoit, a regional Indian chief who lived about 40 miles to the southwest. The following week he appeared again, this time bringing with him a Patuxet Indian by the name of Squanto, who as William Bradford would write, was “a special instrument sent of God for their good, beyond their expectation.” That was understating it a bit.

Squanto offered them his services, and they were invaluable. He taught them how to trap eels in the mud flats of the bay, what berries were edible, what herbs were good for medicine, and how to trap beaver, which would later become a source of income for the Pilgrims. Most important of all, he taught them how to plant corn, and plant it the Indian way — by burying dead fish with the seed, to fertilize the seedlings as they grew. He was God’s instrument for their salvation.

As Squanto’s story came out, the Pilgrims learned that his tribe, the Patuxets, had lived at Plymouth. But, in 1617, a plague, probably brought by French fur-trappers from the north, had killed every member of the tribe. That explained why they had found the ground covered with human bones, and evidence of previous cultivation. The plague had raced through the tribe so quickly that they had not even had time to bury all their dead!

Sqanto had escaped because he had not been there. They learned that he had been kidnapped in 1605 by an English fishing expedition and taken to England, where he had lived for nine years in the home of an merchant named John Slanie. He had learned to speak English well, and became accustomed to English foods and ways. In 1614, he had been brought back across the Atlantic on another fishing expedition, under the command of John Smith, of Jamestown, Virginia fame, who had gone into the fishing business. Squanto had enjoyed being home while the English filled up their ships with the plentiful cod in the bay. But, when it came time for them to depart, Smith had ordered one of his captains,Thomas Hunt, to stay behind and trade for beaver pelt. After Smith and the others left, Hunt got rid of the fish, but he had another cargo in mind. Tricking on board 20 young Patuxet braves, Squanto among them, he took them prisoner and sailed across the bay, stopping briefly to pick up 7 Nauset men. He set course for Malaga, a slave-trading port on the south coast of Spain. There, these American Indians were auctioned off as slaves!

When it became Squanto’s turn to be sold, a monk from a nearby monastery just “happened” to pass by at that moment. Looking at this forlorn Indian, he took pity on him, bought him, and took him to the monastery. Squanto lived with the monks for about a year, after which he obtained his freedom and worked his way up through Spain and France until he could cross the English channel and get back to England. He stayed with the English until 1619, when a Captain Dermer brought him back home on a fishing expedition to the New England coast in exchange for his services as a pilot in American waters. Dermer dropped him off on the tip of Cape Cod, but when Squanto got back to his village site at Plymouth, he received the worst shock of his life. All of his people were dead, killed by the plague that had struck two years earlier.

Heartbroken, he wandered among the ruins and the bones, and then walked the 40 miles southwest to the tribal seat of the Wampanoag and Chief Massasoit, who took him in. He stayed with them until March of 1621, when Samoset had returned from his village site to tell him that some English had settled there. Squanto suddenly had a new reason to live! He would go help these white people. And so he did.

In October, when the 20 acres of corn the Pilgrims had planted under Squanto’s tutelage had been harvested, they wanted to hold a celebration festival. They invited Massasoit and the Wampanoag, and of course Samoset and Squanto as well, to come and celebrate with them. Massasoit came a day early, with 90 braves, plus women and children. The Pilgrim women’s hearts must have sunk, because they were going to have to use the corn stored up for the winter to feed this crowd of Indians. But Massasoit had thought of that, and had ordered some of his men to hunt for the occasion. They brought with them five deer strong up on poles, and wild turkeys. There were fish from the bay, berries and other fruits, roasted corn, and the Pilgrim women supplied vegetables from their gardens. The festival lasted three days, complete with bow and arrow shooting contests, foot races, and relay races. It was a good and peaceful time for whites and Indians together.

I suspect that many times during those festivities the Pilgrims stopped to thank the Lord for His miraculous provision of Squanto. Had it not been for him, there would have been no cause for celebration and thanksgiving. God had sent this American Indian, who spoke English fluently, ate English foods, understood English customs and ways, and knew about the Christian faith because of his time with the Spanish monks: the right man, in the right place, at the right time. Only God can do something like that.

My friends, that is the true story of the first New England Thanksgiving; the real reason this holiday should be special in Americans’ hearts!

President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Day Proclamation

washthanksprocl.jpg

How far we have fallen spiritually from the kind of people and nation we were – even from our infancy. It would do all American well, to read and meditate on George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation, and recapture the kind of allegience we once had to our God as a People and nation.

Thanksgiving Day Proclamation of 1789
by President George Washington

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor, and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanks giving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many single favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the Service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks, for His kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation, for the single and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of His providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war, for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed, for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, of the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have to acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge and in general for all the great and various favors which He hath been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humble offering our prayers and supplications to the Great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually, to render our national government a blessing to all people, by constantly being a government of wise, just and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed, to protect and guide all Sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace and concord. To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us, and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone know to be best.

Murtha Says America “Cannot Win Militarily”

murthatraitor.jpg

This guy is a Subversive Traitor.

John Murtha, DEMOCRAT – hoping and praying for American defeat and humiliation in Iraq and Afghanistan is the best freind Osama Bin Laden and the Jihadists could ever hope for in Congress.

The good news and progress coming out of Iraq is simply dismissed by the man who decrees Marines in Haditha were “guilty” of mass murder despite their exhoneration in court. He makes no apologies for smearing, castigating and demeaning our troops and their mission, all for the push to gain political victory for himself and his party.

It’s time to call the dishonorable congresscritter what he is – A FAT TREASONOUS CREEP!

Our military has performed maginficently and wins engagements hands down.

Like his insistance that our Marines were mass murderers, he will continue to insist that America cannot win – and therefore – must lose.

And in his fat rotgut head – that means we have to run away like the yellow coward he himself is. It’s sad he wants to project that cowardice on our military for his own political gain.

Murtha: ‘We can’t win militarily’
By S.A. Miller
November 20, 2007

House Democrats’ point man in the war-funding showdown with the White House today dismissed U.S. military gains in Iraq and vowed to tighten the purse strings until President Bush accepts a pullout plan.

“Look at all the people that have been displaced, all the [lost] oil production, unemployment, all those type of things,” said Rep. John P. Murtha, chairman of Appropriations defense subcommittee. “We can’t win militarily.”

The Pennsylvania Democrat conceded violence was down dramatically and some normalcy restored on Iraq’s streets, but he said U.S. victory remains unattainable as long as Baghdad fails to pass national reconciliation laws.

“To change the political law, it doesn’t seem to me you need the military stability,” Mr. Murtha told reporters on Capitol Hill.

The dim view of U.S. military progress in Iraq and a resolve to force a pullout have been echoed by the two top Democrats on Capitol Hill — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.

The funding standoff will force the Pentagon to make budget cuts at bases in the U.S. to cover the costs of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, including sending furlough notices to as many as 100,000 civilian employees, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said.
