Ron Paul Says Fascism Will “Come Bearing A Cross”

Ron Paul: “‘…when Fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.”

Quote of the Week: “When insanity comes, it’ll be towing a blimp and asking for money.” – Izzy Dunne

Do we need any more evidence that Ron Paul is completely out of his mind?

We’re at war with people who chant for our deaths in the streets, desiring to impose global Sharia Law on the planet after threatening to destroy us – and Ron paul says they are “no threeat”, that there is no Islamofascism.

YET on the other – Ron Paul says that Christians will bring fascism!! (quoting Sinclair Lewis)

The more I hear this guy speak, the more I am convinced he is a complete lunatic.

No wonder his mob loves him so. Now he’ll attract the Atheist/Secular Left to his Mob Zombie parade of anti-war zealots, MoveOn.org Pinkos, Anarchists, disaffected Republicans, Disaffected Democrats and Free Drug Libertarians like Summer flies to a flourescent light.

Ron Paul says: “When fascism comes, it’ll come bearing a cross”

TRANSCRIPT:

STEVE DOOCY: Mike Huckabee has started running an ad in Iowa, where you’re at right now, also in New Hampshire and South Carolina, and in the back, it’s a windowpane but it also looks a lot like a cross. And, and, we had a guest a little while ago who said it was inappropriate to be using religion for political purposes. Congressman, I’m just curious what you think?

RON PAUL: Well, I haven’t thought about it completely, but you know, it reminds me of what Sinclair, uh, Lewis once said, he said ‘when Fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross.’ I don’t know whether that’s a fair assessment or not, but you wonder about using a cross like he is the only Christian, or implying that subtly. So, uh, I don’t think I would ever use anything like that.

DOOCY: So, uh, Congressm— you know, uh, Governor Huckabee is not selling fascism. He’s — simply sending out a Christmas message, anyway, just curious how you felt about that. Congressman, if you would sit right there in Des Moines just for a moment, we’re going to take a quick time out…

I think the fact this is the first thing coming off the top of his head when being asked about Huckabee’s ad is instructive of the kind of whacko mindset this guy has.

    He’s absolutely correct.

No Arab state or combination of states can do anything to threaten the territorial integrity or sovereignty of the United States or its government. The most they can achieve is asymmetric attacks on soft targets, and while those can carry a painful human cost, they are absolutely powerless to conquer or displace our government. So no matter how “islamofascistic” they are or become, it really doesn’t matter to us as participants in a democratic republic. Our nuclear arsenal does in spades what the oceans used to – it makes the United States absolutely unconquerable.

So the only possibility of fascism coming to the United States would be from within. And fascism of Juan Peron or Francisco Franco’s flavor would be the most likely. Both of those individuals had a cross in one hand when they brought fascism to their respective countries.

  2. Ouch.

I’m a Christian, I run three Christian organizations, and I’ll be in the Middle East in eight days.

Most Republicans I ;eet are fascists, especially the Christians. I pledge allegiance to God, not a flag. I financially supported three Christian churches in Iraq until the US government destroyed them, forcing my brothers to flee.

I visited Iraq in 1989 and wordhipped in a Christian church, during Saddam’s rule.

I visit the Middle East and openly read my Bible daily, without threat.

You, sir, have capitulated to liars. Open the Book and see what Christ preached, not the Pharisees.

The writer of this article has obviously not studied history.

  4. I wonder how many hours of brainwashing it takes to make someone like this blogger believe that terrorists want to establish an Islamic fascism in the United States. 100? 1000? 10,000?

I see that the Ron Paul U-Boat Commanders are out honing in on any pings about their messiah again.

No Arab state or combination of states can do anything to threaten the territorial integrity or sovereignty of the United States or its government.

So I guess 9-11 was a mirage? It did not really happen? Or are you one of the kooks that thinks Bush flew missiles into the buildings and remote detonated bombs in the towers???

19 Islamic Nationals not only threatened our integrity and sovereignty – they murdered 3,000 in a few hours time.

they are absolutely powerless to conquer or displace our government.

Indonesia, Europe and France showcase exactly how they can and will do that here.

Try taking a vacation to Dearborn Michigan for a day.

    See for yourself.

Our nuclear arsenal does in spades what the oceans used to – it makes the United States absolutely unconquerable.

The idiocy of this statement is astonishing.

Nukes are as harmless as Q-tips when one has no willpower to use them. Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, none of them are intimidated by our nukes. They know we have no willpower to use them, and even if they did hit us hard enough to piss us off again, we would not know who to use them on.

That’s why they understand the perfection of assymetric warfare.

Plus, most Jihadists aren’t interested in conquering this “infidel land” for Islam – they just want to see it destroyed.

So the only possibility of fascism coming to the United States would be from within.

And Christians and “neocons” are those threats, yes??

Your mob has more in common with Brownshirts than anything I’ve witnessed outside a history book.

I wonder how many hours of brainwashing it takes to make someone like this blogger believe that terrorists want to establish an Islamic fascism in the United States. 100? 1000? 10,000?

When the Christians came to America they saw the vastness of this land and they knew one thing, they sure were not going to share it with the people that had lived there for ages,
So with every tribe that the Christians slaughtered, Jesus rewarded them with more land. Since everyone in the tribe was to be killed, raping of the women and taking the fingers from living children for souvenirs was okay for Christians.
They burned the forests, much like is going on in South America, to create more “usable” land. Then when they had too much land they needed slaves to work on it.
One must say that Jesus approved of all of this because look around and see how the slaughter of the Indians, enslaving others and the rape of the land was so greatly rewarded. Jesus must have been smiling upon all this?
Now look at how he rewards corporations with countless blessing (money). Who else has the power to reward people with fortune like this?
Who else would reward people with the Hell they brought to those living here before?
    Who else?

First, let me say that I support Ron Paul for the presidency mainly for his economic policies. Generally though, as an attorney, I find his devotion to the rule of law and unwavering support of the Constitution commendable. I realize that I’m in the den of the lion on this website; I found it by chance. As a former catholic, I find your ideas about christianity and Jesus terrifying. As with any religious fundamentalists, be they islamic, jewish or christian. But my point is not to denigrate you. My point is to offer a thought. Perhaps all of you are missing something really big. As I understand it (from a friend who is a former evangelical christian), you believe the end times are here. And, though my memory is rusting over about the Revelations, I recall something about a second coming of Jesus. I do know that Jesus taught peace, to love thy neighbor, to forgive, and in general, led a very live and let live life. Perhaps (and again, I am a reformed catholic – meaning I don’t believe in what you all believe – JC was just a guy to me) Ron Paul, who preaches the same message of peace and respect as your Christ, maybe he is the second coming? I will probably be roasted in following comments, but if I thought the world was facing biblical armagedon, I think I’d be forced to figure out if RP just might be the real deal. What if he is? Follow him and be saved, isn’t that how it goes? Ignore him and face 1000 years of hell on earth? That’s right, too, isn’t it? Just a thought from your friendly atheist/anarchist/attorney. A sincere Merry Christmas to you all!

I find your ideas about christianity and Jesus terrifying.

Be of good cheer, most of this world agrees with you.

I simply take solace in what Jesus Himself said: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.”

As with any religious fundamentalists, be they islamic, jewish or christian

Right – Jews and Christians are walking around with bombs strapped to themselves and kids and sawing off heads to conquer the world for their religion – right??

But be of good cheer, you have many allies who would like nothing more than criminalize all religion, and one day – either imprison or exterminate the lot of Jews and Christians. Taking a cue from what Atheist despots like Stalin have littered the graves of the world with their victims.

Ron Paul, who preaches the same message of peace and respect as your Christ, maybe he is the second coming?….Follow him and be saved, isn’t that how it goes? Ignore him and face 1000 years of hell on earth? That’s right, too, isn’t it?

And people get all upset when I charge you Ron Paul Mob Zombies with false Messiah Worship.

There it is spelled out in black and white.

You’re a mob – no different than the brownshirts of Nazi Germany.

Interesting that Ron Paul quotes Sinclair Lewis as a truthteller… Lewis was an aetheist, a lifelong alcoholic, and an adulterer. (Conversely, Huckabee quotes the Bible as Truth, accurately and appropriately, btw.)

    QUOTE:

It was in college that Lewis lost most of the religion he had, writing as part of his credo, “No cant about Sabbath, & priesthoods & gods, & saints, & blasphemy … If there be saints — they are Voltaire — as well as Christ; Shelley as well as St. Paul.”[1] Sinclair at last concluded, “The Christian religion is a crutch. Until it is taken away we can never begin to walk well.”[2]

    QUOTE:
SINCLAIR LEWIS (1885-1951). American novelist and playwright; 1st American Nobel Prize winner in literature in 1930.
Lewis was a heavy drinker throughout his adult life. He preferred brandy, often consuming over a quart a day. Mark Schorer describes his pattern of “. . . complete immolation and isolation in the writing of a book, and then gregarious bouts that finally blacked out everything.” James Thurber observed that with Lewis: “You couldn’t always tell at 7 in the morning whether he was having his 1st drink of the day or his last one of the night.” His 2nd wife, writer-lecturer Dorothy Thompson, made repeated appeals to him to do something about what she called his “pathological drinking.” His drinking bouts often ended in delirium tremens and hospitalization.
During a visit to Europe in 1950, Lewis suffered a heart attack from which he never recovered; he died in Rome, at 66. He remembered his last mistress, 29-year-old Marcella Powers, in his will.

  10. The people who very obviously “hate us for our freedom” do not live in Tehran, Bagdad, Kabul, or Damascus; they reside in places like Washington DC, New York, and Hollywood.

Ron Paul is the only truly decent, honest man running for the office of President, and that, very simply, is why they hate him and lie about him (when they can no longer ignore him.)

“To attempt to silence a man is to pay him homage, for it is an acknowledgement that his arguments are both impossible to answer and impossible to ignore.”

Dr. Paul didn’t coin that phrase, Sinclair Lewis said it. Go Ron Paul! Watch the last part of this video: SPAM

These comments miss a crucial distinction: this quote does not suggest that Christianity itself causes fascism. Rather, it suggests that fascist forces will use Christianity and patriotic values and symbols (which most Americans hold dear) in order to enforce their message. If you think this is ridiculous, look at the symbolism and values to which Nazi Germany appealed. Christianity and patriotism were high on the list.

I would argue for Ron Paul because we have alienated these men and women in their own lands. We have taken control of the soil with tanks and guns. We have taken control of the politics with inplanted supported leaders. We have taken control of the economics with the subsidising of the economy with US Dollars and funds from the International Monetary Fund and other Central banks. We have done all this with force, and we have done all this to ENSLAVE the Iraqi people to debts, and interest payments on FIAT (fake) dollars that OUR CENTRAL BANKERS will litterally create out of thin air. This is Usary, and it is a horribly dispicalbe sin in the bible, the koran, and all judeo-christian beliefs. The USA is prepetuating USARY and they are using this usary to fund wars waged on mankind. If you can not see this yet, you have been blinded by the will of the beast (the mainstreem media). We will all be challenged to see beyond the will of the beast to see the world, and people in it for the content of thier charictor, and not labels or other external devices. Ron Paul’s message is infinitly powerful to; democrats, republicans, libertarians, and more because it centers ideals on INDIVIDUALS. No matter how long it takes, us “crazies” will drill this into your hearts and minds. For your sake, I PRAY that we can reach you before the mark of the beast is uppon you (RFID Chips in you skin anyone?).
The North American Union is planned by the CFR to be fully executed by 2010. Everyone but Ron Paul in this 2008 election is a member of the CFR, and will destroy America as we all love her. I will be an insurgent in my own land if I have to, because I will not stand by as the beast comes to mark my friends and loved ones.

Your tinfoil is on too tight and I have no stomach for the Alex Jones/Prison Planet everyone-is-out-to-get-us bullpucky you Area 51 Hate America nitwits keep peddling.

  15. jack

The author apparently forgets how Bush attracted evangelical voters by wearing his religion on his sleeve, then proceeded to lie about WMDs, the non-existent Saddam/Osama connection, “mission accomplished”, etc. The current administration is the most corrupt I’ve ever seen ( yes, that includes Nixon and Clinton!).

Be VERY wary of politicians who use religion to gain votes. Sinclair Lewis ( and Ron Paul) are exactly right, Izzy Dunne is an idiot.

Exactly correct! Offended readers failed to make that distinction. Ron Paul was NOT attacking the faith, but rather corrupt,power-hungry people who would manipulate faith for their own ends. The Izzy Dunnes of the world fail to understand that, which should cause us fear for our nation and liberty . People like Izzy blindly goose-step behind the first politician who says “Jesus”; they have a “political religion” confusing American nationalism for Christianity. The REAL Jesus said, ” My kingdom is not of this world.”

  17. invar

    No, wrong.

Bush did not lie about WMDs.

Sadaam had them, used them and boasted about them. He supported Jihad homicide bombers financially and declared jihad on the U.S. in both 1999 and again in 2003.

Whether or not Sadaam had tea and talk with Osama Bin Laden is irrelevant – they both espoused jihad against the West and America.

As far as using religion to gain votes – Huckabee has been doing that far more than Bush did. If anything, it was the media that made a federal case about Bushs’ faith. Huckabee deliberately pontificates as if he’s giving a Sunday sermon from the pulpit.

  18. invar

That’s just more of the same “Christians are as bad as Jihadists” crap, watered-down to sate the palate of the anti-government pacifist sentiment.

You people would be making the same absurd charges against Adams, Henry, Washington and Franklin for their outspoken reverence for their faith.

I’m no fan of Huckabee as I do not subscribe to the notion that Jesus was a Socialist, but to make a blanket statement like Paul referenced to apply to anyone mentioning their respect of religion and faith is way beyond the line.

Hitler was not hoisted to power because he co-opted Christianity. He had fanatical Brownshirts who thought he was a messiah for Germany that shoved populism down the public’s throats to the point of violence.

If anyone is closer goose-stepping, it’s the Ron Paul mob zombies that preach Paul instead of common sense and true religion.

  19. Phil

Ron Paul was right on target. I’m discovering the danger of theocratic Christians who seek government to enforce their idea of morality. I’m making this statement as a Bible believing Christian who is pro life and a conservative Republican. Huckabee and all the dangerous theocrats like him are the same type that devised the ridiculous blue laws of the south where government dictates what one can & cannot do on a Sunday. Bush wears his supposed Christianity & Patriotism on his sleeve while he step by step though the Patriot Act and other heinous legislation violates our constitutional rights paid for in blood. I can think of no clearer example of Fascism waving a flag and carrying a bible then George W. Bush.

  20. You have proven one thing with this blog. People like me are complete asses.
