Stimulus We Need? 300 Million Dollars for Golf Carts?

Obama Warns Of “Catastrophe” Unless Stimulus Passes Quickly

The Entire Economy Rests on a Precipice of Disaster Unless D.C. Gets 300 Million for New Golf Carts

Senate Democrats add 300 million for Golf Carts to Stimulus

The U.S. Senate’s stimulus package includes $300 million for environmentally friendly modes of transportation, including “neighborhood electric vehicles” — which are, in fact, golf carts.

The 778-page Senate bill includes this allocation: “For capital expenditures and necessary expenses of acquiring motor vehicles with higher fuel economy, including: hybrid vehicles; neighborhood electric vehicles; electric vehicles; and commercially-available, plug-in hybrid vehicles, $300,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2011.

The Web site Townhall.com observes: “The Democrats thought they could fool you by renaming the money earmarked for golf carts in the stimulus bill as paying for ‘neighborhood electric vehicles’…

“Most people call them golf carts.”

  1. You should do a little research before accepting the political spin that is being put out. Neighborhood electric vehicles are, in fact, not golf carts. They are a separate class of vehicle (low speed vehicles) as defined by NHTSA with specific requirements. Golf carts do not meet these requirements. Tax credits can only be applied to vehicles approved by the IRS as meeting the requirements of the law, in this case, qualifying as low speed vehicles. No one in the industry believes golf carts will qualify for this tax credit.

Oh goodie, a spinning shill for the Politburo morons shoving this insanity down our throats.

First of all, it’s not a “tax credit” of 300 million – nice spin there yourself. It’s an earmark expenditure of OUR TAX MONEY in the amount of 300 MILLION DOLLARS for “acquiring” these ‘neighborhood electric vehicles’ (read GOLF CARTS).

Two – I don’t give a rat’s behind what you want to call these “low speed vehicles” – hell, call them Go-Carts for all I care.

300 million is another gross pork misappropriation of MY MONEY, and isn’t going to do a damned thing to ‘stimulate’ the economy.

No nation ever spent it’s way to prosperity, but there are plenty of historical examples of nations that spent themselves into oblivion, by doing crap just like this.

I had to read this article thrice. I thought it was a joke the first time. The second time I was filled with a feeling of unquiet. The third time, I merely said to myself, that’s what makes this country great, you can say one thing, get millions of people to believe you, and then do exactly the opposite once they put you in power for four years, and there’s not a great deal we can do about it now. Unfortunately we’ve let ourselves believe that there is some sort of fundamental difference between Democrats and Republicans, unfortunately they’re not any different at all, they consist of the same liars, thieves, and educated idiots as in the other party.

This has nothing to do between Democrats and Republicans.

This has everything to do with the role of government in our lives and how it relates to liberty.

It has everything to do with Liberal Marxism, and the tolerance or intolerance of tyranny in a land that was supposed to be free.
