Christians Flee The Church As Wickedness Rises Within The Nation

emptychurch

A lukewarm, dead and dying church stuck in tradition and rigidness is driving away the very people they were sent to save

Interesting essay and honest explanation of how the Christian church in America is dwindling.  While the author has several excellent points, and his overall message is a good one, he misses some very blatant truths that we must understand in order to apply the great admonition he gives the church in America at his conclusion.  My comments are not intended to criticize, but add some weight and gravitas to the issues that are driving many out and away from the Church.   My comments are from viewing the problems he cites from a pastoral/missionary perspective.  I would definitely read the entire essay, my comments follow the quote boxes.

Dear Church, Here’s Why People Are Really Leaving You

Being on the other side of the Exodus sucks, don’t it?

I see the panic on your face, Church.  I know the internal terror as you see the statistics and hear the stories and scan the exit polls.

I see you desperately scrambling to do damage control for the fence-sitters, and manufacture passion from the shrinking faithful, and I want to help you.

You may think you know why people are leaving you, but I’m not sure you do.

You think it’s because “the culture” is so lost, so perverse, so beyond help that they are all walking away.

You believe that they’ve turned a deaf ear to the voice of God; chasing money, and sex, and material things.

To diminish the Churchs’ view that this culture’s glittering temptation and focus on money, sex and material things is a major factor in the shrinking church in America is a gross misunderstanding of a key device Satan has used to blind the church in America. We do believe many are not interested in God because the pursuit of the flesh is indeed a major focus of the American/Western mindset.   If chasing money, sex and material things was NOT a major focus for many Christians , why is it the Joel Osteen Health/wealth Prosperity Gospel is the largest growing ‘church’ for so many??  Look, I’ve listened to Osteen’s Zig Zigglar self-help positive thinking path to wealth and riches gospel.  It attracts many like moths to a flame and at the same time runs off many more in  disgust and shame.  Osteen himself preaches chasing money and material things (Name It and Claim It physical blessings) as the sign of a ‘mature Christian’ and that those who suffer without such things ‘lack faith’.  Under that false gospel, when money, sex and material things do not visit those who pay homage to that doctrine, many do lose heart and faith in the church as a whole and decide to pursue those goals outside of a Christian framework.

You think that the gays and the Muslims and the Atheists and the pop stars have so screwed up the morality of the world that everyone is abandoning faith in droves.

To subtly suggest that those agendas have not assisted in the abandonment of the faith is also a major oversight.  In fact those agendas have watered-down the church because the very people this author is citing for leaving the church are the same people who see nothing wrong with homosexuality, affirm there are many paths to heaven and that pop stars are the definition of their generation.  The church itself has been influenced greatly by those things, which is why praise and worship has become a hip-hop concert for many and churches who speak out against the homosexual and secular agendas are targeted for blame in this exodus he addresses.

But those aren’t the reasons people are leaving you.

They aren’t the problem, Church.

You are the problem.

Let me elaborate in five ways …

1. Your (Church) productions have worn thin.

This point while excellent and true, contradicts the earlier statement of Church opinion that gays and pop stars have screwed up morality.  The church itself is mimicking much of the cultural rot that is popular in order to attract ‘believers’.  But his point about much of what passes for ‘praise and worship’ being white noise with little sustaining substance during the rest of the week is spot-on.

2. You speak in a foreign tongue.

…You’re holding onto dusty words that have no resonance in people’s ears, not realizing that just saying those words louder isn’t the answer. All the religious buzzwords that used to work 20 years ago no longer do.

Very true, and also you can add varying church traditions that are defined as doctrines to that mix of ‘foreign tongues’.  Making scripture and the faith relevant in this evil world is imperative.  Sadly what often happens is that the church either makes doctrine of utmost importance to the exclusion of all else, or it compromises the faith and the scriptures to make the culture relevant in the church, rather than the church being a relevant force in the culture.

3. Your vision can’t see past your building.

The coffee bar, the cushy couches, the high-tech lights, the funky Children’s wing and the uber-cool Teen Center are all top-notch … and costly. In fact, most of your time, money and energy seems to be about luring people to where you are instead of reaching people where they already are.

Perhaps the greatest indictment in this essay that I wholeheartedly agree with.  Missions seem to the be the very first thing churches cut from their budget as the greater Church in America turns inward to satisfy the ‘needs’ of the congregation that wants all the accoutrements of comfort and provision for their ‘experience’.  Instead of a place that people come in to sharpen iron so they can GO OUT into the world to do Matthew 28:19-20, the Church sets as it’s marketing goals a place for people to come in….and stay in.

 4. You choose lousy battles.

We know you like to fight, Church. That’s obvious. When you want to, you can go to war with the best of them. The problem is, your battles are too darn small.

I would modify this one and say that churches love to fight one another over doctrine and easy cultural skirmishes, but when it comes to the real heavy issues where Satan has the high ground; abortion, homosexual marriage, sexual addictions, promiscuity, adultery and divorce – the church not only runs away from confronting those sins and agendas, but has surrendered to them completely.

5. Your love doesn’t look like love.

Love seems to be a pretty big deal to you, but we’re not getting that when the rubber meets the road. In fact, more and more, your brand of love seems incredibly selective and decidedly narrow; filtering out all the spiritual riff-raff, which sadly includes far too many of us.

It feels like a big bait-and-switch sucker-deal; advertising a “Come as You Are” party, but letting us know once we’re in the door that we can’t really come as we are. We see a Jesus in the Bible who hung out with lowlifes and prostitutes and outcasts, and loved them right there, but that doesn’t seem to be your cup of tea.

To the world, our love does not ‘look’ like love because this wicked world has redefined what ‘love’ means.

This culture under Satan has redefined ‘love’, and the church has swallowed that baited trap hook, line and sinker. “Love” in this culture has  been redefined to mean “accept” and “tolerate” which graduates to ‘compromise’.  Because if we tell a sinner to overcome his sin (i.e.; homosexuality) the church is automatically declared to have no love or ‘tolerance’.

Yet the scriptures explicitly tell us that God has no tolerance for sin, and as a direct result of it, sent His only Son to DIE, so that we could have our sins covered UNDER HIM, and live in a new life away and outside of the wickedness of the world.

‘Come as you are’ does not mean ‘remain as you are’ – which many complainers of Christianity make as their justification of hostility and indifference to the faith.

In Revelation 2 & 3, Jesus repeats the same thing to all the Churches: OVERCOME.  To him who OVERCOMES will He grant to sit on His Throne.  Overcome what?  Obviously – sin.  That gives bearing one another’s burdens a whole new meaning does it not?  If we have no love, we would leave the world to rot in the consequences of it’s sins.  If we LOVE, we will point to the path of redemption, reconciliation and OVERCOMING the sin, so the consequences of that behavior are not visited upon men, or their children.

These words may get you really, really angry, and you may want to jump in a knee-jerk move to defend yourself or attack these positions line-by-line, but we hope that you won’t.

We hope that you’ll just sit in stillness with these words for a while, because whether you believe they’re right or wrong, they’re real to us, and that’s the whole point.

What is real to us, is not always what is important to God.  Often, with this flesh, what is important to us is the values of this world we live in and the perspectives Satan wants us to see faith in.   Scripture says there is a way that seems right (or real) to a man, but therein lies the path to death (Proverbs 16:25).   What this essay brings forth should cause us to reflect on the truths cited, but there is much meat that is missing that would lend the warnings and complaints so much more weight.

Maybe I am the problem.

Maybe it is me, but me is all I’m capable of being right now, and that’s where I was really hoping you would meet me.

The failures of the church in dealing with someone struggling with sin, or lost in sin is indeed a major problem that the author rightly addresses.  He makes the case for ‘hearing’ his complaint, and he touches on the idea of ‘coming alongside’ those suffering in sin and pain.  However, in this current culture that is often easily twisted into the demand to capitulate with sin and ‘not judging sin’. We need to come along side someone seeking, to help them OVERCOME sin, and say ‘this is the Way, walk in it’.  Too often that is being defined as ‘intolerance’ and imposition, and the church has not done a good job of defending the need to rescue people out of their sins, because this culture and the church have bought the lie that defining the sin and pointing sin out, is the only sin there really is.

But so too has the Church failed in the manner the author addresses.  Rather than helping others come out of sin, there is often ostracization, dismissal and disfellowship, which is what this author addresses as a major contributor to the exodus from the Church.

Bearing one another’s burdens is something the church tends to limit to only helping fellow church members cope after a disaster or trial.  Helping someone come out of an addictive behavior or sin is just as necessary.  Shame and brokenness can be a weapon Satan uses to keep us from the church and keep the church away from us.  Yet, we do not teach brethren Apologetics to be able to say when accused of a sin, that yes – I sin, which is WHY I NEED A SAVIOR.  Equipping saints to help others come out of their struggles with sins is a course that has yet to be taught in many mainline and secondary denominations.

So yes, Church, even if you’re right, even if we’re totally wrong—even if we’re all petty, and self-centered, and hypocritical, and critical, and (I’ll say it), “sinful”—we’re still the ones searching for a place where we can be known and belong; a place where it feels like God lives, and you’re the ones who can show it to us.

Depends on what such people are seeking.  If they are seeking a place to come be known and belong without any emphasis on overcoming themselves and their sins, by the renewing of their minds, then what they seek is not what the church is for.  Jesus said “Be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48), and while we acknowledge that we may never be so in this life, it does not negate the fact Jesus intended that to be what we strive for as Christians.  If people want to find a place where “God lives”, it is going to be in a body that not only loves and praises God, but acknowledges our sins, bears one another’s burdens and helps one another OVERCOME our sins and shortcomings, so we can all learn to put on the mind of Christ, to build Our Father’s character in our minds and hearts.

True love is when you are not afraid to tell someone struggling with sin, ‘Go and sin no more, I will help as best I can to bear that burden with you’.  What I hear many say in reply in this culture, is that such a position is intolerance and not acceptance, because our culture demands the Church accept the sinner as they are WITHOUT pushing them towards repentance.

If we are going to truly love someone, we are not going to leave them in their sin, which will result in death, literal and eternal.  What we hear many say who are leaving the church is what we read in Isaiah 30:10, Romans 16:18 and II Timothy 4:3.    A people influenced by a culture that tells them to give them only smooth and easy things, acceptance, tolerance and a promise of eternal life without transformation.

I see a church unwilling to change staunch unwavering positions of tradition and doctrine to serve the individual.  At the same time, I see a church unwilling confront the challenge from the culture, and falling to the demands that they bend and accept every demand the people infected by the culture demand.  A lukewarm church is not attractive, because many can see it stands for little or nothing but itself.

And that kind of hypocrisy and weakness is not a place they see or feel a powerful God exists to transform their lives.

Warning America of Coming Destruction and Judgment

Americas-Judgment

The parallels of the fate of Ancient Israel suffered are crying out to America.  Judgment is soon at our door.

Jonathan Cahn, author of ‘The Harbinger’ and pastor/rabbi of Beth Israel Messianic Congregation of Wayne, NJ, gives the key note address at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. 01/21/13.  As a Watchman on the Wall, he is warning America from the pages of scripture of our national sins that will soon condemn us to judgment.

Our first clear warning for our nation to repent was the removal of God’s Hedge of Protection, and America’s repentance was short lived.  Two years after 9-11, America and her courts were removing God’s Commandments from courthouses and public spaces.  Since then, God and Jesus Christ are ridiculed, scorned, mocked and His followers called ‘intolerant’, ‘bigots’ and worse by a growing segment of this nation’s civil and cultural leadership.

The warning given here in this message is one many servants of God have been proclaiming of late. But even His Churches have become lukewarm and salt-less, ignoring the warnings and messages.  Instead they find solace in a gospel of wealth and prosperity they have constructed for themselves, recreating Jesus into an image that fits the decadence and self-absorbed culture

Youtube has been busy removing this video as offensive almost as soon as it is uploaded.  The warning of truth is considered offensive to this generation and efforts to marginalize and silence those whom God has anointed for that work would suffer the same fate as Ancient Israel’s prophets of God should this people be empowered to do so.

This message is powerful. Bold.  Illustrating biblical prophesy and the parallels our nation is facing.

Pastor Cahn shared these words of Abraham Lincoln, “And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God … and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.” My eyes filled with tears. How I long for a leader of our country to speak such words now.

Unfortunately, as with much of American Churchianity – this event was attended only by like minded brethren and has already been afforded its contempt in mass media coverage while the masses gathered to praise Obama as sovereign and lift their prayers to … apparently the spirits of our ancestors.

Jesus said, “He who has ears, let him hear!”

Isaiah 6:9-10
And He said, “Go, and tell this people:
‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
“Make the heart of this people dull,
And their ears heavy,
And shut their eyes;
Lest they see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart,
And return and be healed.”

UPDATE: Youtube has scrubbed all uploads of this keynote address and keeps doing so within minutes of someone uploading a new version.  In all cases it says the video was ‘removed by the user’.  The reason given for this on some Christian forums is supposed ‘legal threats have been made’ because the Presidential Seal is present and Cahn has not been given permission to share, publish, broadcast or otherwise exhibit his keynote address.

Thankfully this video is currently being hosted at Vimeo – but given how quickly this is being taken down by ‘those who uploaded it’ – makes for interesting speculation.

The parallel of Ancient Israel’s destruction and America is cited in Isaiah 9:10-21.  Replace Jacob with ‘The West” and Ephraim and Manasseh with America or your town – and the warning is consistent with how God warns a nation of HIS people who called themselves by HIS Name – to repent or face destruction.

The Lord sent a word against Jacob,
And it has fallen on Israel.
All the people will know—
Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria—
Who say in pride and arrogance of heart:
“The bricks have fallen down,
But we will rebuild with hewn stones;
The sycamores are cut down,
But we will replace them with cedars.”
Therefore the Lord shall set up
The adversaries of Rezin against him,
And spur his enemies on,
The Syrians before and the Philistines behind;
And they shall devour Israel with an open mouth.
For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still.
For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them,
Nor do they seek the Lord of hosts.
Therefore the Lord will cut off head and tail from Israel,
Palm branch and bulrush in one day.
The elder and honorable, he is the head;
The prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.
For the leaders of this people cause them to err,
And those who are led by them are destroyed.
Therefore the Lord will have no joy in their young men,
Nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows;
For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer,
And every mouth speaks folly.
For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still.
For wickedness burns as the fire;
It shall devour the briers and thorns,
And kindle in the thickets of the forest;
They shall mount up like rising smoke.
Through the wrath of the Lord of hosts
The land is burned up,
And the people shall be as fuel for the fire;
No man shall spare his brother.
And he shall snatch on the right hand
And be hungry;
He shall devour on the left hand
And not be satisfied;
Every man shall eat the flesh of his own arm.
Manasseh shall devour Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh;
Together they shall be against Judah.
For all this His anger is not turned away,
But His hand is stretched out still.

America is not heeding the warning, neither are most churches willing to hear or preach this message.

In fact, during this impassioned message as you watch, especially near the end, watch men in ties and suits and women walking around the stage behind and in front TALKING while Pastor Cahn is still passionately preaching. The amount of DISRESPECT for one giving such a message is even self evident among those attending a prayer breakfast. They were not listening – they were busy talking to one another – a HUGE amount of disrespect to the Word of God being expounded upon by those people I am sure think highly of themselves because they attended.

In a way, that is a microcosm of the church itself in America. Some applaud the message of warning and repentance, and most of those are in the seats in the back and out amongst the gathered. Meanwhile, the leaders, the pastors and organizers – are busy squawking among themselves, disdaining the message, and nary even paying attention to the dire warning and call that IS THEIR CHARGE TO GIVE TO THEIR FLOCKS.

But they are not heeding, nor even listening. They are mostly about their own agendas, ministries and efforts – few of which are even related to Matthew 28:19-20, or equipping the Saints to actually go out and do that Commission.

Lord help those of us with ears to hear, and through HIS Spirit – MOVE in action to DO what needs to be done among a wayward people in an age of evil.

America Needs A Day of Atonement

America has lost discernment between right and wrong, and needs to seek reconciliation before judgment comes upon the nation.

Reblogging today’s essay from Joseph Farah at WND, because it is timely, and important.  For those of us who observe the annual festivals of the Lord, Farrah’s essay is perhaps more prescient and important in considering how the lessons of this festival season are needed in this nation right now.  And for those who do not observe the biblical festivals – perhaps the message in this essay is one every Believer will agree with.  These days should enhance your faith and understanding in Christ, and Lord knows – we only have Him to rely on to save us from where we seems o be headed as a people and nation.

America Needs A Day of Atonement

They call it a Jewish holiday – Yom Kippur.

It’s the Day of Atonement, all right, but it’s not just for Jews. As Leviticus 23 makes clear, today is not a Jewish holiday, it’s one of the Feasts of the Lord, or, more precisely, one of the Feasts of Yahweh.

In other words, it’s for everyone who believes in the One True God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Christians should especially find it appealing, since they believe in the forgiveness of sins by the one they consider to be the Jewish Messiah.

What has become increasingly clear to me in my study of the Bible over the years is that Jesus – or Yeshua, as He was known to his brethren – did not come to Earth in human form as the Son of God to start a new religion called Christianity, which, after all simply means followers of the Messiah.

Yeshua came to fulfill the promises of the Hebrew prophets. Neither he nor anyone else in the Bible ever suggested we should celebrate His birthday on Dec. 25 – the traditional birthday of the pagan deities Tammuz and Mithra. Neither He nor anyone else in the Bible ever suggested we should celebrate the Babylonian holiday of Ishtar, or Easter. In fact, neither He nor anyone else in the Bible ever suggested we should observe Sunday as the Sabbath.

These were all traditions of men trying to blend pagan cultures with a touch of Christianity.

But the God of the Bible doesn’t like mixing pagan mythology with His commandments or pagan holidays with his appointed feasts.

That’s why it may surprise some of you that this Christian, this follower of Yeshua Ha’Maschiach, is observing Yom Kippur today – the Day of Atonement. My family will fast and pray just like Jews around the world and more and more Christians who are rediscovering the Hebrew roots of their faith.

The Day of Atonement is a high holiday – a Sabbath. I’m not working today until sundown. And I stopped working yesterday at sundown. That’s because by God’s reckoning of time, the day begins at sundown, not sun up and not midnight.

What I am saying to Bible believers is that God doesn’t want us celebrating our pagan holidays. He expects us, however, to observe His divine appointments. Those come weekly at sundown Friday from sundown Saturday. And there are additional spring and fall feasts, or appointed times, like Yom Kippur, in which we are called out to meet Him.

Some modern American Christians might arrogantly suggest they don’t have to atone for any sins because Jesus already did that for them. While it’s true that Yeshua died for the sins of those who make Him Lord of their life, that atonement doesn’t come without sincere repentance.

And repentance is not a one-time act. It’s not a collection of magic words we say one time in our lives so that we have license to sin some more. Repentance is a continual process, because we all fall short of the mark.

It’s not just individuals who need a Day of Atonement.

In ancient Israel the high priests prayed for the sins of the nation, too.

America could take a lesson from that experience.

We are a nation in moral free fall.

We’ve lost our ability to discern right from wrong.

We don’t even accept that there is such a thing as sin anymore. Sinners are just those practicing alternate lifestyles.

But this can’t go on forever – just as it couldn’t go on forever in ancient Israel when the nation went adrift.

God is longsuffering because He loves us. But like any good parent, He will not enable His children forever. He will discipline them in an attempt to bring them back to His authority – not wishing any should perish.

So if you think today is just another Jewish holiday, think again.

Today is one of your God’s feasts, one of His appointed times. He wants to meet with you. He wants to bring you back into covenant with Him.

Judgement Begins At The House of God

An unrepentant generation consigns us to our fate due to the silence and unwillingness of the Christian Church in America to live what it preaches.

In light of the continuing collapse of America into tyranny, the blame gets pinned on whatever politician, political party, lobbying group or Federal agency and even whatever international cabal is convenient.  The truth of the matter is that the root cause of our nation’s woes, is the Christian church in America going lukewarm.  Liberty and freedom as we know it, can only exist within the bosom of a moral and religious people.  As John Adams said – our Constitution is wholly inadequate to govern any other kind of people.

America in 2012 is a II Timothy 3 Generation.  The church in America and the culture it lost has devolved into that described generation over many decades.  But now it is here, and in full.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of great trial.  For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, hating  good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the form of religion, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. – II Timothy 3: 1-7

In my experience there is no better evidence of this than in the churches themselves.  Is not the current popular Christian doctrinal culture one of accommodation with sin?  To tell people that ‘Jesus loves them just as they are’? That it’s all about love and not judging sin, even when sin defines people?  The church in America has the form of religion – but no power to influence even it’s own members to avoid sin and to stand for Righteousness.  Indeed even in the churches, the people only want to hear smooth and easy things, and they get angry when their health/wealth Warren/Osteeen illusion of what Christianity is supposed to be, is challenged with the light of the plain truth whereby Jesus said in John , ‘If you love Me, keep My Commandments’.  So as a result the church itself no longer practices judgment against sin, because the church itself bought the lie from the Secular Left  that to judge sin, is to judge someone who practices and justifies it.  So in the striving against being judgmental, we have homosexual marriages IN the apostate Christian church, masquerading as righteousness.

For they are a rebellious people, lying children, children unwilling to hear the instruction of the LORD;  who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions, leave the way, turn aside from the path, let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel.”  Isaiah 30:9-11

Truly the wicked in America are vehement in demanding to hear no utterance of biblical faith as the flap over Chick Fil-A last month testifies.

Michael Boldea of Helping Hand Ministries has two powerful writings I want to share with my readers.  The first is a “letter” from this II Timothy 3 Generation I am speaking about.  The second, is the indictment of the church, that all of us as Christians must bear the responsibility and the shame that go with where the church has arrived in America.

Letter From an Unrepentant Generation

Dear Jesus,
Sorry for not talking in such a long a time, but Your love being compulsory, You’ll just have to understand. We the people of planet earth have gotten together and have agreed upon some things, which we thought fitting to pass along.

We think it only right we have a say, and even if You disagree, we demand it, and as such You have to do it.

First off, we believe there has been some sort of miscommunication, because a handful of your representatives still seem to think we are in need of forgiveness, and keep throwing around words like repentance, self-denial, and self-renunciation. We are not looking for forgiveness since forgiveness implies wrongdoing, what we are looking for from You is validation more than anything.

We don’t believe we’ve done anything wrong since sin is relative and subject to individual interpretation. As such, we no longer believe in the existence of sin, or consequence, justice, or hell for that matter.
Just tell us we’re okay and heaven-bound no matter what we do and no matter what we allow to nest in our hearts, and we can continue having as amicable a coexistence as we have enjoyed thus far.

Since certain things in Your Book were offensive to us, we decided to change the parts we didn’t like. At first we thought you might disapprove, but what You have to understand is that by changing a few things, and tweaking a few others, coming to church has become attractive to more people, and this translates into more revenue. In the end, isn’t revenue what it’s all about? Trust us, we know business, and keeping the Book the way it was, was cutting into the bottom line. Make people feel at ease, make them feel comfortable, do not challenge their lifestyle, and you’ll have faithful and loyal givers that will put you over the top with every offering.

When you really think about it, it was only a matter of time anyway. Can You really expect those of this generation to prefer You over their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, wives and husbands, when they don’t even prefer You over their possessions, positions, and proclivities?

Since you’ve likely seen what is happening on this planet, we were also wondering why you were late in returning. What’s keeping you? By our estimation You should have been here by now, and we should all be in heaven feasting and attending a wedding…at least that’s what our guest speaker said last Sunday.

Need we remind you this isn’t what we signed up for? The Apostles of old, and those of the primary church might have been foolish enough to sign on the dotted line, but we read the fine print, and made our own amendments before signing. We hope you honor those amendments, even though we didn’t run them by you.

So just to set the record straight, our amendments include but are not limited to, no persecution, no hardship, and no tribulation. We’ve all agreed we don’t have what it takes to endure to the end, so please come sooner than you’d intended, just to make sure we’re not scarred – emotionally or otherwise – by what we’re starting to see taking shape all around us.  Although we do not intend any offense, we are firm concerning the aforementioned issues, and even most preachers, evangelists, and pastors agree with us on our points.

Sincerely,
An Unrepentant Generation

And following that:

I have come to loathe these tired clichés
I have come to loathe these tired clichés we Christians are starting to throw around. ‘It’s time to stand for righteousness.’Really, is it? Has there ever been a time when it wasn’t the right time to stand for righteousness? Did it suddenly become the appropriate time to live the gospel, and not just talk about it?
Jesus didn’t say, ‘if you love, Me, tell Me so repeatedly, sing it to Me, put it on a t-shirt, or tweet My name ten times per day.’What Jesus did say, was, ‘if you love Me, keep My commandments.’
The new crop of the stupid and the perverse we are seeing come into their own, is the byproduct of the church’s silence, and unwillingness to live the gospel it preaches.
Sorry to break the news, but a good three quarters of ourspiritual betters don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to sin, lawlessness, or other forms of rebellion against God.
You can’t really become a dyed in the wool moralist when you’re on your fourth marriage, being investigated for fraud and embezzlement, and the words righteousness and holinesshaven’t passed your lips in at least a decade.
Just this morning, another mega-church pastor was fired from his post for having an illicit affair with a sixteen year old parishioner.
The world is evil…the word of God tells us that it will be. The germane issue here is that the church isn’t the beacon of righteousness and holiness that it ought to be. It is not what God calls it, and even demands that it be, and so at best we’re just a bunch of blowhards pointing at the world’s perversions with one hand while trying to sweep our own sins under the rug with the other.
This is largely the reason judgment begins in the house of God. He hates hypocrisy, loathes it even, and when His righteous judgment begins to descend, the first stop on its world tour is the household of faith, where it will thoroughly clean house in a very public, very dramatic, and very complete way.
I’m sorry to burst a bubble or two, but sin isn’t what we define as being sin, sin is what God defines as being sin, and by God’s definition, much of the church needs to first repent before a living and omniscient God, before they begin the herculean task of converting the world.
What made the Apostles so effective in their ministry was not their vast intelligence, their witty repartee, their skills in delivering engaging exegesis, or their mastery of hermeneutics. What made the Apostles so effective was that they lived the gospel they preached, and because they lived the gospel, signs and wonders followed them, and when they opened their mouths to speak the name Jesus, they did so with authority and power.
Man is no more evil today than he was two thousand years ago. The only difference between now and then is that the watchmen have stopped watching, the guardians have stopped guarding, and those who ought to have been lights, and who ought to have stood for truth, discovered the hugely entertaining and mildly addictive game of golf.
We can keep thinking we can wish the world into being a better place, or positively affirm that it’s not as bad as all indicators confirm it is, but the reality of the situation is that change begins with us – with the individual – and as long as we are duplicitous of heart, and only partially committed to truth, the enemy will continue to gain ground and conquer territories the household of faith should have held with little effort.
The persecution that is soon to descend upon the church is not only beneficial in that it will separate the wheat from the chaff, it is vitally necessary, deserved, and long overdue.
With love in Christ,
Michael Boldea Jr.

This author, having seen and experienced institutionalized persecution in a third world nation for the first half of this year – recognizes the very machinations for the same kinds of persecution happening here as it exists over there that Michael sees as soon-coming.

America will not survive, nor liberty endure tyranny when the church itself – the bosom of liberty has gone lukewarm.  Lukewarm will grow cold and then dead.  Because iniquity abounds, the love of many will grow cold, and then many will be offended, betray one another and you will be put to death for His Name’s Sake. (Matthew 24).

The Laodecian and Sardis Church in America: Lukewarm or Dead

The Socialized Church in America no longer stands for righteousness and against sin, as it embraces a new morality pushed by Secular Socialists and Marxists.

In preaching and speaking to Christian churches, the discussion often turns to blaming one group of people or another for the woes afflicting our nation.  My response is that the real culprits that deserve blame and should do 2 Chronicles 7:14 are Christians in America who have gone lukewarm and embrace ideas and doctrines that are of the province of Satan, who transformed them into angels of light that the Socialist church has embraced and is spreading.

This entire essay by Pastor Roger Anghis is a must read in it’s entirety and indicts the church in America for their role of being Laodecian or Sardis in attitude towards their faith; either lukewarm or dead.

DeToqueville will be proven a prophet with a warning that Christians have not heeded.

The Apostacy of the Church

By Pastor Roger Anghis

2Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
(3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
(4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

We have entered into a time where biblical prophecy can be found in the daily news paper on a daily basis. One of the things that is spoken of in scripture is the actions of the ‘social church’ in the last days. The ‘social church’ is not the true church as the true church will hold strong to the precepts of God. The social church will lean heavily towards what society accepts. Today’s society has accepted people living together without the benefit of marriage. In the social church this subject is very rarely talked about and many in that church are living together without being married. Today’s society has no problem with divorce for almost any reason. In the social church the divorce rate is actually higher than in the world. Society does not have a problem with alcohol and I have seen the social church actually serving alcohol on church property. Society is beginning to accept same-sex marriage and all that it brings with it. We have many denominations that are now ordaining practicing homosexuals to lead their churches.

These insane actions from today’s so-called churches do nothing but confuse the parishioners. When the Bible says one thing about a subject but the preacher teaches something entirely the opposite, this causes confusion. 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” Now that we have verified where the teachings that are contrary to the Bible are originated we can understand why too many ‘churches’ are so far away from what the Bible teaches. When the church ignores the laws and precepts of God’s Word, the church becomes ineffective in the society that it exists in.

The church in America was the center of government, education and enforcement during the founding years. These churches relied on what God required and then acted accordingly. That philosophy created the greatest nation the world will ever see. It was only when the church began to allow the philosophy of the worlds system into the church that the church began to lose its influence in the society where it once flourished. No system of governing that man has devised has ever been successful. The fall of all empires, the Greek, Persian, and Roman and even Russia are perfect examples. America’s system, based on biblical principles, has been the most effective, prosperous and successful for its people than any form of government this world has ever seen. Yet, we no longer embrace the values taught in scripture. The decline was gradual until 1954. At that time then Senator Lyndon Johnson attached an amendment to an IRS bill that made it illegal for a 501(c)3 corporation to be involved in the political arena. When the church was taken out of the political arena, the influence of godly principles began to fall exponentially.

Today most pastors don’t know that the church was ever involved in politics. This is disturbing because when you study the Bible God always had a man of God in a position of influence to those in government, always. That should give some pastors a hint that this should still be happening. I have spoken with many pastors about being involved in the political arena by preaching the importance of godly men in office, something that our Founders were very strong concerning and they look at me with terror in their eyes because of the fear of losing their precious 501(c)3. The Bible tells us that we are to have godly men in authority over us: Exodus 18:21 “Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:”. This is the verse the Founders used to establish the different levels of government; local, state and federal. Then we are told to pray for those in authority over us; 1 Timothy 2:1 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

(2) For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. What sense does it make to put ungodly men and women in authority over us and then spend all our time praying that they do godly things?

The church has been so slack in standing for the things of God that we have allowed our rights and freedoms to be taken from us mostly without a fight. In 1947 the Supreme Court reversed the meaning of the 1st Amendment stating that there should never be a biblical influence in government instead of never having governmental influence in the church and the church did nothing. In 1954 they stood by and let our freedom of speech and our right to participate in the political process be taken away and the church did nothing. In 1962 they made it illegal to pray in school and the church did nothing. In 1963 they took the Bible out of the school and the church did nothing.

Now there is a case before the Supreme Court that, if decided in the governments favor, will allow the government to tell the church who they can hire for ministers and even if they will allow a minister to hold certain positions in the church. Little by little we have lost our rights and freedoms because the church has refused to stand for what is right.

Pastors no longer have the backbone that the pastors had in the founding era. An excerpt from my book, American Exceptionalism, speaks about the influence that the pastors of the founding era had: “Historian B.F. Morris stated: The ministers of the Revolution were, like their Puritan predecessors, bold and fearless in the cause of their country. No class of men contributed more to carry forward the Revolution and to achieve our independence than did the ministers. . . . [B]y their prayers, patriotic sermons, and services [they] rendered the highest assistance to the civil government, the army, and the country. Alice Baldwin went one step further when she stated: The Constitutional Convention and the written Constitution were the children of the pulpit.”

Where is that fortitude today? Very few pastors are willing to stand up for what our Founders fought and died for. They have become pacifists and pansies. They have forgotten that they will stand before God on judgment day not the IRS. Another excerpt from American Exceptionalism: “These men were men of honor and integrity. They preached that Christians should live in the fullness of God’s Word. There were sermons on the deity of Christ, on Christmas, on Easter, but there were also sermons on other varied topics that you would not hear preached today such as sermons on bridges [architecture], earthquakes, taxes, elections, even executions.

Whatever was in the forefront of the people’s daily lives, the pastors would address it from a Biblical perspective. They were always out front in the fight for freedom. They helped write state constitutions, were the founders of most of our colleges and universities such as Yale, Harvard, Columbia [Kings College], Princeton, William and Mary, Dartmouth, and Rutgers University. By 1860 there were 246 colleges founded and all but 17 were founded by different religious denominations. They were the ones taking care of the wounded in battle and even served in state legislatures and Congress.

These pastors were very astute concerning God-given rights and would be very vocal about any attempt of government to encroach in those areas. They were vocal on things that involved liberty and freedoms and taught constantly about resisting any form of tyranny. Church historian Charles Galloway regarded the pastors of the Founding era to be the pillars of the community. He declared: Mighty men they were, of iron nerve and strong hand and unblanched cheek and heart of flame. God needed not reeds shaken by the wind, not men clothed in soft raiment [Matthew 11:7-8], but heroes of hardihood and lofty courage. . . . And such were the sons of the mighty who responded to the Divine call.”

Today churches allow almost anything inside the church. Recently we have seen the worst ‘marriage’ that we have ever seen. That is the Christian church embracing the teaching of Islam. There can be no more a foolish, not to mention stupid, thing that the church could do. The Bible is the light to all the world. Islam is darkness personified. Have they not read scripture? 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” I have seen the Pope kissing a copy of the Quran! That is insane. A few months ago there was a Sunday where churches all over America combined Christian worship with Islamic worship and preached sermons and held Sunday school lessons on the founder of Islam, Mohammad, whom Muslims consider a prophet. Why are we teaching about Mohammad in our churches instead of Jesus?

The Quran is diabolically opposed to the Holy Bible. Many state that Christians, Jews and Muslims worship the same God. Not so! If that was true then God is a psychopath. In scripture God tells us how to treat an enemy: Romans 12:20 “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.” The Quran gives a different command: Quran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.” If this was the same god giving these instructions, that god is contradicting himself. Islam will do anything to get their ‘foot in the door’. Lie, cheat, steal or deceive. They are masters at deception and the Christian church does not even to make an effort, it seems, to understand how the Muslims work.

History tells us that at no time in history have muslims assimilated into any society that they have immigrated into. Their purpose is to take that society over and install shariah law. Look at the largest muslim community in America, Dearborn, MI. In that muslim community it is illegal to pass out tracts to muslims. That is a violation of our religious freedoms and freedom of speech. Church bells are illegal in Dearborn. In Hartford, CN the muslim leaders met with the city council and informed them that there would be no passing out of tracts within four blocks of a mosque! They gave no regard to our constitutional rights.

This is what we are dealing with. They will say and do anything to get into our society and then demand that that society comply with their shariah law giving no regard to our national constitution.

We can no longer allow the church to go any direction it wants. God has set the guidelines and they must be followed. The church in early America followed them and we all know how America prospered. It wasn’t until the church backed away from her proper role that we started to see America go down the wrong path. In scripture we see that however the faith of the leaders went, so went Israel. The church was the center of everything in the founding era and it was strong and bold. Today it is weak. There are many churches that have not gone down that path and have held strong to the true call of the church. But far too many have forsaken the call and have now put the future of America in jeopardy.

I challenge pastors to get back to what God has called the church to be. Forget your political correctness because if you are political correct you are more than likely biblically wrong. Become again what God has called us to be.
