America On The Edge Of Eruption And Chaos

allfalldown

You are living in the midst of the collapse of the American civil society. The Republic is already gone and lost.  What comes next, will astound and horrify everyone who is not given over to strong delusion.

You feel it.  You see it.  You read it.

It’s all beginning to unravel, exactly as designed and intended by those who rule us.  They have knowingly set the myriad  fuses to the powder keg alight and what they now intend, defies your ability to comprehend, even when their plans are hiding in plain sight.

Anger, fear, aggression, intolerance in the name of tolerance, radical zeal for political messiahs, racial strife, gender insanity, cultural calamity, all happening during an ongoing  global economic collapse amidst fundamental transformation of the West that the vast majority of your neighbors and countrymen pretend is not happening, or is not that important to worry about.

The representative Constitutional Republic we were established as, is gone.  Oh some still pay it lip service to it in the halls of power, but just as II Timothy 3 reveals the cultural rot of the last days – so too does America acknowledge the form of a Constitution, but they deny it’s power and application.  The Democrat Party went full Marxist-Communist while the Republican Party fully funded and empowered a Dictatorship of a pen and a phone then went to war against their own constituents in order to have a seat at the table of the new order.

Most Americans have been brainwashed to think we are a democracy, mob rule that can change our foundational underpinnings whenever the mood strikes.  Who needs a First Amendment when society demands safe zones from any speech and biblical religious exercise they hate?  Who needs a Constitution When the Ruling Class and Agitators stoke the masses into demanding rulings, policies and actions be imposed to placate their appetites and stoke their zeal for punishment of those they have been told to hate?

We are openly lectured by a presidential candidate that we should be transformed into a “Socialist Democracy”, of which we already are in all practicality – but many now want to make that official.  Imbecillic morons who leech like parasites off the remaining producers in the country zealously demand the empty promises of Marxists hawking overt Communism and are eager to wage violence to demand it’s implementation in full.

More than half a population that hates the country they live in, demands freebies and entitlements at our expense while abusing the very programs supposedly meant to help them.  They demand more. They insist on more.  Then they insist they be absolved of any responsibility, and others should pay for their delights.   The nation’s economy is already in the early stages of collapse as trillions upon trillions are wasted by dependent slaves like this moron (make sure you see the last 15 seconds after this disgusting display of irresponsibility):

And the rulers demand more people like the above be granted your property and your wealth, because they say it is their right to take your wealth and your stuff because you are the wrong color, the wrong religion and your intolerant bigotry must be met with government-imposed intolerance and punishment.

Eventually and soon – the milk and honey train will come to an abrupt halt as it has in most Socialist utopias like Venezuela.  And just as we saw in Greece and Europe – conflagration and upheaval erupts, violence, bloodshed and the cries for a strong dictator to promise order and a return to a chicken in ever pot and a Smart Phone in every hand ensues.  We are already in this process of collapse, witnessing the complete and catastrophic eruption of rage and revenge that is going to grow more pronounced, more virulent and widespread as the days wane on.

BLM:Blckpanthers

And I have not even mentioned the Caliphate, Jihadist Islam and Iran with nuclear weapons yet.

Monstrous events in such an environment usually trigger the societal powder keg to detonate, and usually the blast is much larger than even the experts suggest it will be.

But if you understand the genocidal game being played by the masterminds, the question of how to eradicate and kill tens of millions of useless eaters that the Ruling Class is convinced will not come along quietly to the new order that fundamental transformation has irrevocably initiated, everything happening suddenly becomes clear.

Then later, in the ruins of misery – the echoes of Bonhoffer and Rand and Satayana will ring in our ears if there is anyone left whose understanding of the world was not limited to TMZ and the Kardashians.

“Upon closer observation, it becomes apparent that every strong upsurge of power in the public sphere, be it of a political or a religious nature, infects a large part of humankind with stupidity. … The power of the one needs the stupidity of the other. The process at work here is not that particular human capacities, for instance, the intellect, suddenly atrophy or fail. Instead, it seems that under the overwhelming impact of rising power, humans are deprived of their inner independence and, more or less consciously, give up establishing an autonomous position toward the emerging circumstances. The fact that the stupid person is often stubborn, must not blind us to the fact that he is not independent. In conversation with him, one virtually feels that one is dealing not at all with him as a person, but with slogans, catchwords, and the like that have taken possession of him. He is under a spell, blinded, misused, and abused in his very being. Having thus become a mindless tool, the stupid person will also be capable of any evil and at the same time incapable of seeing that it is evil. This is where the danger of diabolical misuse lurks, for it is this that can once and for all destroy human beings.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Papers from Prison

A conflagration is imminent. What sets it off – is yet to be seen as there are so many lit fuses flaring up, crackling and sputtering their way to the big keg of black powder that this nation has become.

Ruins, ala Rome is a guaranteed future for us all at this point.

Society is reaching critical mass

By Robert Arvay

There is a limit to how much stress can be put on something before it is finally and irreversibly destroyed.  It goes by several different names.  Critical mass, tipping point, and system overload are but a few.  In each case, the term refers to an event that finally breaks the camel’s back (to use yet another term for the same thing).

Society is not merely reaching its critical mass; it is reaching it so swiftly that predictably, there will be an abrupt and catastrophic breakdown of historic proportions, eclipsing even the fall of the Roman Empire.

This is not hyperbole.  In modern times, humanity has witnessed such catastrophes.  The French Revolution with its resultant Reign of Terror was followed in later years by the Communist Revolution in Russia and even later by the rise of fascism in Germany and Japan.  Each of these events unleashed apocalyptic death and destruction.  Nor were they the end of it.

Today, however, the event is taking place in a form both more subtle and more explosive than ever before.  It is not merely the political, economic, and military structures being overturned, but the very core and foundation of humanity itself: the human psyche.

There is no need to list the examples of that.  The litany of social upheavals eroding family, morals, and education in America and Europe is well known to those who follow such things.  Likewise, the accelerating advance of technology has affected us all in its breathtaking speed.  Beyond that, radical Islamist terrorism has become destructive not merely in terms of its death toll, but also in the fact that it has become the hate that dare not mention its name.

And therein is encapsulated the nature of the catastrophe about to engulf us.  We are faced not with an enemy we cannot defeat, but with one we dare not offend.  Almost literally, we have met the enemy, and he is us.

The modern American fascists do not wave swastika banners; they go to court to force ordinary citizens to (for example) participate in same-sex wedding ceremonies by providing services to them, whether bakery or photography.  Merely to quote the Bible can bring about civil, even in some cases criminal penalties.  Students on college campuses are not free to state their political preference if that preference is Donald Trump.  Why?  Because some of their fellow students feel “threatened.”

The backlash has up until recently been silent.  That is changing.  The Sanders and Trump candidacies are merely the rumblings of a volcano preparing to erupt.  People are fed up.

No one can predict exactly what the spark will be that sets off the powder keg.  All we can say with certainty is that there is a powder keg, and there is a lit fuse.

Boom.

Republic Lost

socialist-america

“A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it”. – John Adams

The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Well, we lost the Republic.  It’s gone.   And this people lie to themselves and pretend that a Republic still governs us simply because they can cast a ballot, buy food with an EBT card and have funds available to purchase beer and porn.  They embrace nearly all vestiges of Socialism, Marxism and every other ill ISM that those bastard parents created and call it ‘fairness’ and ‘equality’.  We are governed by an elite cadre of Oligarchs that have taken over both major political parties and orchestrated a velvet coup that most Americans to this very moment, are clueless occurred.

We’re done.  The Grand Experiment was surrendered and squandered for the promise of free crap from the pockets of those we are jealous and envious of.

Government has become god.

And this people, slaves.

Willing slaves.  As long as they get their handout.

The following essay from Christopher Taylor.

WHY ITS OVER

I’ve written and said in several places and times that our Republic is dead.  This sounds pretty radical to people and I get looks of sad contempt and dismissal like old Christopher that opinionated jerk has gone too far, the poor dear.  Its the kind of response you give old people when they say something terribly unfashionable and out of date, a sort of kindly dismissal and mockery.

So I thought I’d make my case here and let people decide.

The quote at the top is what Benjamin Franklin gave when he was asked what the revolution and constitutional convention has given the people of America.  Franklin, like all of the founding fathers, knew that this experiment was fragile and prone to destruction.  They knew that without constant vigilance, virtue, and vitalization, the republic was doomed.

We’ve left all that behind.  When, exactly, is a matter of some debate, but for me the last desperate, slim glimmer of a hope was November 2012 when President Obama was reelected.  When doesn’t really matter so much as how and why.

A VIRTUOUS PEOPLE

Over and over, the founders warned future generations and their people that unless the nation clung to certain specific principles, it would lose liberty and everything they’d fought for.  Chief among these was virtue.

“We have no government armed in power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.” -John Adams

“Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom. No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles.” -Patrick Henry

“Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the deigns of ambition.” -Thomas Jefferson

“A general dissolution of the principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy…. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader…. If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security.” -Samuel Adams

“Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles”. -George Washington

In short, a nation which is not guided by strong ethical principles based upon an objective, absolute standard, will be blown about like a rudderless, anchorless ship in a storm.  And a people who have no virtue will not consider the future or greater rewards and concepts, but only their immediate personal gain.

“We have forgotten that he who will not answer to the rudder will answer to the rocks” -Mortimer Adler

SHOW ME THE MONEY

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” -Thomas Jefferson

Such a people will, as the founders warned, stop voting for what is right and good, but for what is handy and valuable to them personally and directly.  As Sir Alex Fraser Tytle noted:

A democracy… can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

To put it simply, people will start voting themselves goodies at the expense of liberty, the future, economics, and personal well being.  As soon as a republic crosses that line, it ends.  And we’ve crossed that line.

The problem too many people develop is a sort of blindness.  They know at some level it isn’t true, but begin to convince themselves that if only the right sort of people get into office, they can fix everything, or at least slow the disaster.  But the United States is a democratic republic, so that means we elect representatives by popular vote to govern in our place.

And in that kind of system, we get the people who reflect and represent the culture and people of the nation at large.  Once a nation loses its virtue and direction, it votes for people just like that.  We get venal, corrupt, selfish leaders without integrity, honor, or virtue because we have become a nation of people with these characteristics.  They represent us in more than simply policy decisions; they represent us as people as well.

VOTE FOR ME!

Even if, by some chance or act of God, some leader is elected who differs from this pattern, they are powerless and shunned.  The politician now who is constitutionally responsible, has integrity, honor, and seeks liberty and future benefit for the nation over immediate comfort and gain is the outcast who will not play by the rules.  They are the trouble maker, the rebel, the crazy guy who won’t shut up.

Imagine, if you will, some miraculous scenario where all three branches of government were somehow filled with your perfect ideal of a conservative servant of the people and the constitution.  That sounds wonderful, right?

Now imagine what happens once they are sworn into office.  That very second, the news media, popular culture, academia, and out-of-power Democrats begin to bombard every conceivable outlet from social media to film, TV, radio, newspaper, books, personal conversation, and more with the same message. Monsters.  Tyrants.  Horrific.  Racist.  Sexist. Homophobic.  Islamophobic.  Theocrats.  Extremist.  Draconian.  They hate the elderly, children, handicapped, transexuals, minorities, women, on and on.  They support rape.  They support slavery.  They’re trying to put you back in chains.  They burn crosses.  They’ll drag you in chains behind their pickup truck.

Every single policy position, every single vote, every single action would be met with carefully orchestrated, filmed, and broadcast rallies and protests.  The pre-printed signs would be handed out, the paper-machet giant heads would be constructed, the streets closed off so that the “people” hired by groups like International A.N.S.W.E.R. can “spontaneously” take to the streets.

Every news broadcast would be filled with sad little faces and woeful stories of how horrific this bill is that hasn’t even taken effect and how its causing their puppy to starve.  Every hit song would be about how horrible things are on the streets filled with starvation, misery, and death.  Simply returning to how things were ten years ago would be depicted as Jim Crow times ten, packed with uninsured people dying on the streets.

And the people of the United States, bombarded with this in overwhelming fashion, would vote these people out in the next possible election, replacing them with radicals who would not only reverse what the Conservative Majority did, but go even further in the name of social justice and righting past wrongs.  They’d use this chance and the momentum to go even further than ever before.

Who wins what office makes no difference.  Until the nation undergoes a tremendous shift at the basic, cultural level, elections will only pour more of the same on this country and every new election makes matters worse.  And that cultural shift takes time, not elections.

BUT THE COURTS!!

“Through the Mercy of Fools all Justice is lost.” -Rabbi Nachmanides

We’re at a point in this nation where the Supreme Court has been stuffed with a near-majority of members for whom the constitution is simply a set of words they can use to lever in anything the latest progressive positions hold.  When a court has even a few judges who are utterly disinterested in constitution, wisdom, reason, justice, or sanity, that court ceases to have any validity whatseover.  It has been corrupted to the point of being useless.

Arguments we have to get the right sort of politician in this position or that for The Judges ignores the utter destruction of the constitution and nation that has already been wrought by a supposed judicially sensible majority.  After the utter abortion that was the Kelo vs New London decision, the court followed up with several horrendously decided trash cases which demonstrated that they cannot be trusted with power no matter who they are or what they claim about law.

Will a supreme court justice picked by a corrupt, horrible hag like Hillary Clinton be much worse than even a lying bozo like Donald Trump?  Yes.  But the bad is not a question of ruining the nation, its a question of how fast and in what direction.  Its going that way anyway, its just a matter of how swiftly.

REMNANTS

Technically, the USA is still around, of course.  We have the framework, sagging and rotted as it is, of what the country means still in place.  There are the habits of a Republic still here.  Technically we still vote.  In name at least we have representatives in office.  All of it still looks more or less the same.  Its just been gutted, like the shell of an insect that has been burrowed out from within by parasites.

The only direction this nation goes from here on out is away from liberty, away from the founders, away from the great experiment, and toward inevitable failure and tyranny.  There’s only one vector, even if it staggers a bit once in a while.

LET IT BURN

There’s a phrase some use to describe this attitude: “let it burn.”  Some misunderstand this as a call to destroy the nation.  But its not.  Its a call to step back and give up the fight because its going down either way.  For years now I’ve been telling everyone to focus locally, on family, neighbors, local politics.  Your home, your area, your town.  Because the federal government is a write-off.  There is no fixing it through any elections.

That’s what Let It Burn means; not “revolution!!!” but rather “its already burning and the firefighters know it won’t be saved.”  Let it Burn recognizes that its already on fire.  We’re past the point of preventing it.  We cannot save this Republic, until we get past the hard times ahead and begin the slow, painful process of rebuilding.

I’m sorry.  I don’t like it either.  but that doesn’t make it any less true.  And recognizing this doesn’t make me a crazy old man.  Just a sad one.

“Posterity–you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.” -John Quincy Adams

Sorry, John.  We didn’t.  We gave it a pretty good run for a while, but its over.

We Didn’t Love Freedom Enough To Do What Was Necessary

GulagAmerika

Learn this lesson now.  You will need to remember it in the not too-distant future.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?

… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago

America may soon purely and simply deserve everything that is about to happen to it.

If a people cannot even recognize evil and tyranny – they have no ability to resist what will be done to them at the hand of their own corrupt and wicked leaders.  They will lie to themselves about what is happening and will think or whisper these same words as they too rot in the camps later.

American Fascism Is Here

roadtofascism1

GM, Student Loans, EPA dictates, ObamaCare and now “Income Inequality” – Obama has fundamentally transformed America into a Marxist/Fascist State.

“Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good
of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live
under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.
The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may
at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good
will torment us without end for they do so with the approval
of their own conscience.” – C.S. Lewis

The evidence is right in front of you.  The marriage of large corporations and government cronyism in exchange for government protection from government regulation is standard practice in the age of Obama.  ObamaCare will probably be the first real pain you feel under this totalitarian system forced upon us by evil men acting under the color of law with a compliant media and legislature in cooperation with big business to control every aspect of your life.  And like all things run by government – it fails miserably in contrast to real market principles.  Unless the designs themselves are to create misery so as to further government power later.

ObamaCare was designed to do only one thing: collapse the existing health insurance market and force everyone to clamor for government-run healthcare.  The fact the website still doesn’t work is irrelevant.  It was never intended to work.  The fact Obama has not met with HHS Frau Direktor Sebelius once in over 3 years is irrelevant. The “law” forcing the collapse of private health insurance is what is the most important aspect of the “law”.

With that, it has succeeded beyond even what the Communist Party USA thought possible, and so the push to demand government take over the entire healthcare industry are being made.

From one manufactured crisis to yet another ’cause’ the media will parrot – while it ‘appears’ Obama has a black eye from the ObamaCare web woes, His Heinous jumped right into raw Marxism, furthering Class Warfare with a speech declaring “income inequality” as being the ‘defining challenge of our time’.

What we have now, is a Marxist imposing Fascism, which if we will be honest about what it is that Obama has transformed us into – is a MarxoFascist state.

America’s Fascist Movement

In an age prone to political overstatement, words have a tendency to lose their currency. How many times in the 21st century have we heard words like “tyranny” or “totalitarian” thrown around in reference to the essentially stable world of American politics?

When the rhetoric clearly outpaces the reality, such pronouncements become meaningless – and we begin to assume that anyone who talks in such foreboding terms is at least slightly unhinged.

The danger, however, is that dismissing the Chicken Littles will lead us to reflexively ignore even legitimate concerns if they’re sufficiently dire – and that’s a problem because some of our national challenges really are that dramatic.

Case in point: the rising tide of fascism in American life.

To properly understand the threat, we must first strip the word of its non-essential connotations. One of the reasons that “fascism” has become such a toxic term is because of its deep-rooted association with Nazi Germany.

While Adolf Hitler’s reign certainly rested on a fascist substrate, that doesn’t mean that there’s anything going on in modern America that even remotely resembles the undiluted evil of the Third Reich. Nor is it necessarily of a piece with Benito Mussolini’s Italy. Those were aggressive, expansionist, malevolent forms of fascism. If anything, ours is a bland, therapeutic iteration.

So what then do we mean by fascism?

In essence, the fascist system is one that rejects any limiting principle upon government. In Mussolini’s famous formulation it stands for “Everything within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.” That notion, of course, is irreconcilable with the conception of America advanced by the Founding Fathers. Theirs was a government of limited powers, with decision-making decentralized through federalism and the protection of individual liberties.

The fascist notion essentially assumes the infallibility of the state. The American alternative – recognizing that “the state” is nothing more than the flawed human beings who administer it – not only assumes fallibility, but also designs the entire system of government to quarantine its effects.

The more time goes by, however, the more those ramparts are breached. Beginning with the Progressive movement of the early 20th century, there was a concerted effort to erode limits on government power. It continued through the New Deal and the Great Society, and manifests itself in the present day in the government expansion overseen by President Obama and his liberal acolytes around the country.

We should note here a key distinction: Not all expansions of government are necessarily indicative of fascism. The hallmark of fascism is destroying the space that exists between the individual and the state; it’s a desire to crush civil society, the mechanism that allows free people to voluntarily organize on their own terms for their own purposes.

Particularly in America, such efforts usually don’t stem from people explicitly lusting for power. Rather, it’s often the work of do-gooders whose desire to create a better society inevitably leads them to strip away the freedoms of those who don’t share their vision.

Take, for instance, the increasing attacks on the right to free association. The New Mexico Supreme Court recently found that an Albuquerque couple that refused to photograph a lesbian commitment ceremony on the basis of their Christian beliefs had violated the state’s human rights law. An analogy can be made with ObamaCare’s insistence that religious employers provide access to contraception for their employees.

In both cases, one could disagree with the underlying views without accepting the notion that individuals should be compelled, by force of the law, to violate their deepest religious beliefs to satisfy government’s notion of “The Good.”

The freedom of religion is an essentially meaningless concept if that freedom is only operative in situations where it aligns with the values of the governing class.

One sees this impulse for the state to order private relations at every turn. What is ObamaCare if not an attempt to get doctors and patients – which is to say everyone in the country – to conduct one of life’s most private activities, medical treatment, along the lines of government dictates? What is Common Core, the proposal to create national educational standards, if not an attempt to snuff out competing views on what children need to learn to become fully intellectually formed?

The reach of government even goes so far as dictating the offerings and calorie content of school lunches under First Lady Michelle Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (which is currently touching off a rebellion in schools throughout the nation).

That may seem a trifling example if you’re thinking of fascism in terms of brownshirts. For our purposes, however, its marginal importance is precisely the point.

Civil society can’t meaningfully exist with a state so expansive that it sees plucking the cheeseburger out of your child’s hands as a legitimate application of government power.

The Founding Fathers gave us a limited government of enumerated powers, constructed around the notion of protecting individual liberty. What we are currently cultivating, however, is a government that presumes to overrule the church on matters of faith, to overrule your doctor on matters of health, and to overrule parents on matters of childrearing. “Everything within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state.”

Twisting In The Wind: America’s Coming Collapse

Collapse

The Bridge of American society is being buffeted by the gales of Marxism, Dependence and Debt.  Collapse is certain as society gyrates in the winds of Obama’s ‘change”.

Watch the video, then read the essay posted beneath.

One cannot argue with the analogy, or the conclusion.  The laws of gravity, physics, economics and history cannot be placated.  America is going to collapse – we just do not know when the breaking point will be reached as the nations swings from liberty to tyranny, from freedom to slavery.

A Collapse 73 Years Ago, and Another One Coming

73 years ago today, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington State collapsed.  The way in which it collapsed was brought on by a positive-feedback situation, where the destructive force was only bounded by the structural integrity of the bridge itself.

There are some serious lessons in this collapse for the future of American society.

First, let’s get a basic understanding of why the Tacoma Narrows bridge collapsed.

Tacoma Narrows Bridge begins to twist in the wind

The wind that fateful day was blowing strong, gusting to 42 mph, at roughly right angles to the bridge’s span.  The bridge began to life, then flutter, then twist, and as more of the bridge’s structure faced the wind, capturing more energy from the wind, the the motions of the bridge got larger with each bounce, which caused the bridge to capture more energy from the wind, which caused the motions to grow larger, and so on and so forth, until the bridge could no longer resist the motion, and it broke.

From Wikipedia:

Dynamic Aeroelastic Flutter is a self-feeding and potentially destructive vibration where aerodynamic forces on an object couple with a structure’s natural mode of vibration to produce rapid periodic motion. … a positive feedback occurs between the structure’s natural vibration and the aerodynamic forces. That is, the vibrational movement of the object increases an aerodynamic load, which in turn drives the object to move further. If the energy input by the aerodynamic excitation in a cycle is larger than that dissipated by the damping in the system, the amplitude of

Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapses (rare film capture)

vibration will increase, resulting in self-exciting oscillation.(Emphasis mine, Ol’ Backwoods.)

Once the amplitude of the oscillations becomes large enough, the structural integrity of the bridge fails, resulting in what we see at right.

II. LESSONS FOR AMERICAN SOCIETY

Let’s take the Tacoma Narrows collapse as a metaphor.  What are the destructive forces pushing against American society today?   What mechanisms cause these destructive forces to grow and build on themselves?  And at what point does the structural integrity of American society fail, and an economic, political, and/or societal collapse occur?

The howling winds buffeting American society today come from many sources, but join to form a gale force aimed at near right-angles to our society’s span.

I will only focus on a few destructive forces here: the increasing dependence on government and systems of support; the loss of liberty and the increasing police state; the continual devaluation of money via government and big-bank debt; and the intentional attacks on morality and traditional societal norms.

THE WINDS AND THEIR EFFECTS

Destructive Force: Dependence

When I was a kid, my grandmother canned the vegetables from her garden.  In my dad’s childhood in rural West Virginia, everybody did.  Everybody had chickens, and many had a hog or two, rooting in the woods, that would help get them through the winter if things got tight.   Folks were self-reliant.

Not anymore.  One in five West Virginians have an EBT food stamp card. The country as a whole is so dependent on government that half of Americans live in a household that receives some kind of government benefit.  America has 65 million low-information voters who don’t pay taxes, but keep voting to keep the free stuff train ‘a rollin’.

America is dependent.  Not just on government, but on fragile systems of support than can easily be disrupted by natural disasters, like weather, or man-made disasters, like civil unrest and terrorism.  Interdependent,  “just-in-time” delivery and inventory systems ensure that no store has more than 3 days of food.  And water?  Pumped by electricity, just like sewage.  A lot of people in my native West Virginia that used to be on wells, springs, and rain-catch cisterns are on county water and sewer now.    Water that is pumped by electricity.

Food and supplies come to the stores on trucks, whose diesel fuel is refined, pumped, and metered by electrically-controlled and powered equipment.

All of it depends on the power grid.  Thank God it’s not fully centralized; states like Texas can stand on their own, and some other states like Tennessee, Alabama, and Washington have enough hydropower to stand alone, to a certain degree.   But computerized controls connected to the Internet mean that these grids are fragile, and subject to computer-based attacks.  It used to be that the utility industries had their own supervistory, control, and data acquisition (SCADA) networks. Not anymore.  They’re on the Internet, subject to the Chinese Army’s cyberattackers and who knows who else.

In the midst of all this dependency, as a wild card, there are all these drills that turn into real tragedies.  Oklahoma City, in ’95.  9/11/01.  The Boston Marathon bomber.  And coming up, a week from today, NERC’s GridEx, where the drill is the power grid going down, all over the East Coast.  Two weeks after a documentary on NatGeo about an “American Blackout”.  How convenient.

When the power goes out nationwide, there is not a systemic way to get it back. Ever.

100 million+ would die in the first year.

And despite a large movement of “survivalism” and “preppers”, of which Ol’ Backwoods counts himself a part, it is not enough.  Every day, more people get an EBT.  Half of the voting population of the United States takes a government handout of one kind or another.  de Toqueville’s warning applies, but we have ignored it, and now, the Free Crap Army is busy voting itself more and more benefits.  On our election returns maps, whole counties are turning the color of dependence, blue, which really should be Communist Red.

The dependence is growing, and is feeding itself, a destructive force bounded only by resources and the remaining strength of American society.

Destructive Force: The Police State

There is, it seems, an intentional push by the police to get people to react.  The police-military-industrial complex seems to want a civil war.  The Feds are paying for local police forces to have equipment and training in tactics that no oath-keeping officer should be using against Americans. And you know: if they have the gear and tactics, they WILL use them. To justify the budget, a police chief will send a SWAT team to take out a petty thief.   And do it over and over again.

These “all cops to the scene” response to crimes seem directed toward getting people to believe that the Secret Police are everywhere and know everything, and will beat you down if you resist.  In Boston, a whole city was locked down for ONE teenage ‘terrorist’. But it is a sham, a Potemkin village.  If 200 ‘youths’ caused the Austin TX police to “swarm” on the location of the Haunted House riot, and the police could not respond anywhere else, what if a major crime or terrorist event occurred in the rest of the city?  Chaos, that’s what.

The police may put up a show of totalitarian force, but they cannot react fast enough.  As Matt Bracken says, a flash-mob operates on a 4-minute form-act-disperse loop, and the police have a loop about ten times as long, on average.  It’s Col. John Boyd’s OODA loop, and the mob is inside the police OODA loop.  Only armed citizens can react fast enough, because they are already there.

Besides, as the Supreme Court has ruled half a dozen times, the police have no duty to protect you, the individual.  They only have a duty to reduce crime generally.  And their increasing use of Gestapo tactics does not help.

The armed citizen is the only bright spot in this police-state scenario we Americans find ourselves in.  All 50 states have some way for the citizen to carry a gun; in some, it’s virtually impossible to get a permit (New Jersey, New York), and in others (Arizona, Alaska, Vermont, Montana), no permit is required at all.  The rest are mostly shall-issue.  But everywhere you look, the armed citizen is blamed by the media and politicians every single time there is a mass shooting.  And 9 times out of 10, those happen in so-called ‘gun-free zones.’  There’s guns, all right, just not in the right hands.

And then, there are the “the people are the enemy” and “submit to me, I am a cop” attitudes.

Example: the lunacy in New Mexico.  Anal rape of one Mr. Ecker by the police.  They found a judge who ordered this done!  Only one doctor stood up and said, “No, I will not participate.”  But Leviathan cannot be stopped.  The cops found a hospital that would search this man’s rectum, though he had demonstrably done NOTHING wrong.  And these cops have done it before to another man.

The ‘war on drugs’ has been the single most important factor in causing the police to act like tyrants instead of their original mission: protect and defend the constitution against its enemies, and keeping the peace.  Police now can use the possession of any kind of controlled substance as an excuse to do almost anything now.

Police know they will NOT lose a paycheck if they gun somebody down 4 seconds after contact, or taser a woman for not showing the cop her boobs.  And the dirty cops blackmail the dirtier cops, with mutual guilty knowledge, and the so-called “thin blue line” protecting the thug cops.

What about the trained submissiveness exercises for the kiddos?  They all teach the same lesson: kiss the boot of tyranny, or die.  Kids frog-marched out of class by the police for the tiniest infractions, for biting a Pop-Tart ‘in the shape of a gun’ and the like.  Kids in schoolyards, ‘proned out’ by the cops, yelling at them to get down, with barking drug dogs baring their teeth.

Cops used to swear an oath to the Constitution, to a set of ideals.   These Feds and these rogue cops don’t care about that anymore.  There isn’t a moral set of brakes anymore.  They WILL go full Gestapo.  It has already happened.

The police state is growing, and is feeding on itself, a destructive force bounded only by the remaining moral strength of American society.

Destructive Force: Debt

Every year, Federal, state, and local governments spend more than they did the year before, far in excess of the inflation rate.  Government is the only sector where “zero-based budgeting” does not exist;  more, more, more is just the way it’s done.

Every year, more debt is piled on, and the Federal Reserve buys trillions of dollars in bad paper, stocks and bonds, to keep the bubble inflated.  Banks make loans at ever-higher fractional reserve leverages, ensuring they could not possibly give out as much cash as they have deposits.  Credit-default swaps (CDS’s), collateralized-debt obligations (CDO’s), and other obscure financial beasts pile debt higher and higher.

There is now more debt in America than there is money in the world.  It cannot possibly be paid back.

And soon, the United States Treasury will spend quarter of annual tax returns on interest alone.

What if interest rates go up to a mere 5%?  Chaos.  Complete loss of faith in the dollar.

The debt mountain is growing, and groans under its own weight.  How long before it gives way?

COLLAPSE

In our bridge metaphor, American society is swaying, twisting, and bucking, and every time it catches more wind, the amplitude of the oscillations increase.

Where is the breaking point?

I wish I knew.

But we, as individuals, families, and communities, had better be preparing for it.  Because it’s going to happen whether we like it, or not

Twisting Jesus Into A Socialist – The Leftist Perversion of Christianity

Jesus-Socialist

Beware, for the MarxoFascist Liberal-Left is convincing the Lukewarm in the faith that being a good Christian, means being a good Socialist.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves – Matthew 7:15

There is a blending of politics and Christianity that is being done for the specific purpose of REMAKING America.  To turn us from a Representative Republic with a Christian heritage – into a pure Secular Socialist Democracy which will lead ultimately to despotism.   The effort is to replace America’s Christian foundations with NeoLeft Secularist ideals of a Socialist utopia.  To do that – they have successfully helped to steer Americans away from traditional Christianity, to embrace an idea of religion totally alien to our nation’s foundations and principles.  Communist and Socialist regimes always replace religion with the worship of the state.  Ultimately they seek a society where the Elites will regulate everything including commerce, property, wealth, speech, welfare and even how you think and believe.  The once blasphemous idea that Socialism is good for America, is gaining ground because it is being preached daily from the news and entertainment media, and from political panderers that morality means big government Socialism – and more directly from some pulpits – that Jesus taught and expects His followers to practice Socialism.

These are the people who are busy rewriting our history to better match their self-loathing anti-American worldview.  These are the ideologues who want God and religious exercise removed, banned and stripped from the public and private square.  These are the people who demand homosexual marriage, indoctrinate our youth with dumbed-down self-esteem garbage and pushing aberrant sex practices and lifestyles on elementary school kids.  These are the ideologues who demand government handouts for selected groups of government dependents, and think big government Socialism is the reason the government exists.  These are the ideologues who do not trust you or I with speech, guns, private property, wealth or liberty to live our lives.  They may all come from separate left-wing groups – but they are all of the Leftist/Socialist mindset and nearly all of them actively campaign for the remaking of America into their image, because they see America and Americans as evil.  They think it is their moral duty to fix the evil that this nation’s existence has wrought upon the globe – because for many of them who claim the mantle of Christianity, they believe all of that rotgut is what Jesus preached and stood for.

They preach Jesus was a Socialist, and they now equate that being a good Christian DEMANDS you be a good Socialist.  The religious and secular Left in America are transforming government to replace the church in ministering to the poor and needy.  Eventually, as all Marxist/Socialist regimes do – they will replace Jesus with the state, and demand government be worshipped.  For Socialist/Marxist despots will suffer no allegiance to any other but themselves and their systems.

Michael Youssef has two essays on this subject worth the time to read.

Keep Jesus Out of Your Socialism

The headline of the full-page ad asks, “What Would Jesus Cut?—A budget is a moral document.” The text continues, “Our faith tells us that the moral test of a society is how it treats the poor.”

The ad was produced by Sojourners, a self-described “evangelical” organization whose slogan is “Faith in Action for Social Justice.” The ad was signed by Sojourners president Jim Wallis and more than two dozen Religious Left pastors, theologians, and activists. They urge our legislators to ask themselves, “What would Jesus cut?” from the federal budget.

How would you answer that question? My answer would be, “It’s a nonsense question. Your premise is faulty. Your priorities are not His priorities.”

Jesus had many opportunities to confront the Roman government about its spending priorities. It was, after all, one of the most brutal regimes in history. If the question “What would Jesus cut?” has any biblical relevance, we should be able to cite instances where Jesus lectured the Roman oppressors the same way the Religious Left lectures America.

Just compare ancient Rome with America today. Rome sent its armies out to conquer; America sends its soldiers out to liberate. Rome demanded tribute from other nations; America sends aid and emergency relief around the world. Rome enslaved nations; America rebuilds nations.

If the federal budget is a “moral document,” what does it say about America? It suggests to me that America may be the most moral nation on earth! Name one other country that has spent $15 billion fighting AIDS in Africa. Name one other country that has provided more disaster relief, that has built more schools and water treatment plants, that has supplied more food aid around the world, that has sent more doctors, teachers, and technical advisers to developing nations.

Even America’s military budget—much of which is being spent to rebuild Iraq and Afghanistan—reflects the basic compassion and unselfishness of the American people. Clearly, America hardly deserves any scolding from the Sojourners soapbox.

Did Jesus ever lecture the Roman Empire about its budget priorities? In Matthew 8, when the Roman centurion approached Jesus in Capernaum, our Lord could have said, “How dare you, a Roman warmonger, come to Me asking favors? Change your priorities! Tell your bosses in Rome to stop buying chariots and start funding welfare programs!” But Jesus didn’t lecture the centurion. He said, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith!”

In Matthew 22, when the Pharisees asked if it was right to pay taxes to Caesar, the Lord could have thundered against Caesar’s misplaced budget priorities. Instead, He said, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

In John 18, Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate, the Roman prefect, a friend of Caesar. Why didn’t He give Pilate an earful about the injustice of Roman rule? If ever there was a time for Jesus to “speak truth to power” and become the “social justice Messiah,” that was it!

But Jesus didn’t preach the social gospel to Pontius Pilate. Oh, he spoke truth to power, all right. He delivered a profound message to Pontius Pilate—and to you and me: “My kingdom is not of this world.”

Now, I’m not saying that Christians are never called to confront their government. God bless Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Confessing Church for standing against Nazi genocide. But that’s not the situation here.

And I’m not saying there isn’t a social and compassionate dimension to the Christian gospel. There certainly is! Jesus had great compassion for the poor.

He preached in Nazareth, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.” He sent word to John the Baptist, “The deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.” Jesus presented the obligation to help the poor as an individual responsibility, a Kingdom responsibility—not the duty of the secular government.

Both the religious and secular Left in America seem to want government to replace the church in ministering to the poor and needy. One of Barack Obama’s first proposals as president was a plan to slash tax deductions for charitable donations by high-income taxpayers. President Obama reasoned that a tax deduction “shouldn’t be a determining factor as to whether you’re giving that hundred dollars to the homeless shelter.” Maybe so—but since private charities do so much good for the poor, why eliminate incentives for charitable giving? Could it be that liberals see private charities as competing with the big government welfare state?

In Romans 13, Paul tells us that we pay our taxes and support the government so that we will have a just, orderly society in which law-abiding citizens are protected from wrongdoers. But the responsibility for mercy and compassion belongs to the church—not the government.

What would Jesus cut? When He stood before the Roman Empire, He didn’t suggest cuts. He received cuts. His flesh was cut by Roman nails and a Roman spear. He was bruised for our transgressions, and with His cuts we are healed. That’s the gospel of Jesus Christ.

PART 2

…ministering to the poor and the needy among us is the work of Christian individuals and the church, not the secular government. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. . . .” Today’s Religious Left wants to change that to, “He has anointed the federal government to preach good news to the poor.”

The Christian gospel is a message of salvation, not a message of income redistribution and raising our neighbor’s taxes. Jesus said that the way to serve the poor is by giving generously of our own resources. “But when you give a banquet,” He said in Luke 14, “invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

The Religious Left is very generous—with other people’s money. In fact, I believe the founder of the Religious Left was none other than Judas Iscariot. When Mary, the sister of Lazarus, anointed Jesus with costly perfume just days before the crucifixion, Judas lectured her and said, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor?”

Notice that Judas put on a show of caring for the poor—even though the money was Mary’s, not his! The motives of Judas, John 12:6 tells us, were corrupt and self-centered—and Jesus responded with a stinging rebuke.

At least one of the Lord’s disciples was a “social action Christian” in the Sojourners mold: Simon Zelotes (Simon the Zealot). Just as Sojourners president Jim Wallis was once president of the Michigan State chapter of the militant Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), Simon Zelotes was a young political radical who attached himself to Jesus because he thought Jesus would lead a revolt against the Roman Empire.

Simon saw Jesus as a political Messiah who would topple the powerful while lifting up the poor and oppressed. But Jesus was not a political Messiah. He didn’t attack the Roman Empire. He did battle with the Evil Empire of Satan himself.

Jesus didn’t tell the Roman government what its budget priorities should be. Why? Because His agenda was much larger than the agenda of Simon Zelotes or the Religious Left. His eyes were fixed on eternity. He said, “My kingdom is not of this world.”

The Religious Left has missed the meaning of that statement. Yes, there is a place for Christian social action—but that place is in a personal lifestyle of generosity and compassion to the poor. Jesus didn’t tell the rich young ruler to become a political activist and affect public policy. He said, “Go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

It’s true, there’s poverty in America, and some of the poor can’t lift themselves out of poverty without help. Some are physically or socially disadvantaged. Some are down on their luck. They need and deserve Christian compassion and the good news of the gospel.

But a huge number of people receiving government assistance are substance abusers, welfare cheats, or chronically lazy. Doesn’t the Bible tell us, “If a man will not work, he shall not eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10)? Why must the “makers” of society support the “takers” of society? That’s not compassion. That’s theft. Wouldn’t it be more compassionate to encourage the takers to develop self-respect by becoming productive citizens?

Would Jesus endorse government policies that encourage and enable addiction, indolence, and welfare fraud? Certainly not. The Religious Left should read His parables, especially the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the Parable of the Vineyards (Matthew 20:1-16), and the Parable of the Tenants (Matthew 21:33-46). In those parables, Jesus blesses hard work, personal responsibility and the freedom to achieve.

Government programs can’t separate the truly needy from the welfare cheats—but private Christian charities can. Private charities are far more effective than government at meeting needs, changing lives, eliminating fraud and waste, and dispensing compassion. Our stance as Christians should be pro-compassion, not pro-bureaucracy.

The place for compassionate Christian social action is in the church, and in the lives of individual believers. When the church becomes a political pressure group, telling the government, “Confiscate more wealth from those who earned it and give it to those who have not,” then the church has formed an unholy union with the kingdoms of this world.

Income redistribution is not Christianity. It’s Marxism—and mixing the two only pollutes the Gospel and betrays the Great Commission.

Christ Ignored For The Religion of the Left: Google Favors A Marxist Over Jesus on Easter, Obama Decrees Today Is Cesar Chavez Day

no-jesus

Obama and the major media proves that the real religion of Democrats and ‘Progressives” is Leftism; Marx-ism, Social-ism, Maos-im, Commun-ism.  They worship their ideology – not the Lord – whether they admit it or not.

This was holy week for those who revere the scriptures (Passover, Unleavened bread, Good Friday, Easter) – the State Media illustrates their disdain for any faith from the bible.  While by itself this slight can be discounted as a sign of anti-Chrisian/Jewish bias, but collectively over the last decade or so – today’s omission of acknowledging Whom most are celebrating today, and replaced with a Leftist icon reveals the fact that the religion of Democrats and Liberals is their political religion of the Left in all it’s doctrines.  They worship the State and their ideology above all else.

So on Easter Sunday – Obama issues Presidential Decree that today is Cesar Chavez Day, and Google ignores Jesus for Chavez.

While this author keeps the biblical feasts, I am disgusted what Google has done today.  It’s boycott time.

My pal John has a great rant about it today.  Thanks John.

On Easter Sunday 2013, Google honors an Alinsky Radical Instead of Jesus

by John Galt
March 31, 2013 11:55 ET

Just when one thinks that our nation’s corporations can not suck up enough to the Alinsky-Obama radical leftists, here comes Google on Easter Sunday:

GOOGLE_EASTERjgfla2013

Seriously?

Cesar Chavez, a learned disciple of Saul Alinksy and his tactics is Google’s choice on Easter Sunday upholding the Imperial Leader Obama’s edict that March 31st from here on out be known as “Cesar Chavez Day” in a proclamation issued last Friday:

Presidential Proclamation — Cesar Chavez Day

CESAR CHAVEZ DAY, 2013
– – – – – – –
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

Every year, Americans all across our country pause on March 31 to remember a man who made justice his life’s calling. Growing up the son of migrant farm workers who lost everything in the Great Depression, Cesar Chavez knew hard work and hardship from an early age. He labored long hours for little pay, taking odd jobs to help his family get by and forgoing a formal education to follow the crop cycles. But where others might have given up or given in, Cesar Chavez never lost hope in the power of opportunity. He lived each day by a belief as old as America itself — the idea that with courage and determination, any of us can reach beyond our circumstances and leave our children something better.

More than anything, we remember Cesar Chavez for lending voice to the voiceless. When no one seemed to care about the invisible farm workers who picked our Nation’s food, beset by poverty and cheated by growers, a courageous man dedicated to dignity stood up and spoke out. Alongside Dolores Huerta and fellow organizers, he rallied a generation of workers around “La Causa,” marching and fasting and boycotting for fair pay and protections on the job. They fought through decades of setbacks and fierce resistance. But through every trial, Cesar Chavez refused to curb his ambitions or scale back his hope. Step by step, march by march, he helped lead a community of farm workers to make the change they sought.

Cesar Chavez’s legacy lives on at Nuestra Señora Reina de la Paz, his home and workplace, which I was proud to designate a National Monument last October. It also lives on in those who remember his central teaching: that when workers are treated fairly and humanely, our country grows more just, opportunity becomes more equal, and all of us do better. Because even with the strides we have made, we know there is more left to do when working men and women toil in poverty without adequate protections or simple respect. We know there is more to do when our broken immigration system forces workers into a shadow economy where companies can ignore labor laws and undermine businesses following the rules. Fixing those problems means securing what Cesar Chavez fought for at La Paz. It means taking on injustice, making sure hard work is rewarded, and bringing more Americans into a rising middle class.

In 1966, when Cesar Chavez was struggling to bring attention to his cause, he received a telegram from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “As brothers in the fight for equality, I extend the hand of fellowship and goodwill,” he wrote. “We are with you in spirit and in determination that our dreams for a better tomorrow will be realized.” It is a story that reminds us how here in America, we are bound together not by the colors of our skin or the languages we speak, but by the values we share and the brighter future we seek for our children. So today, as we honor a man who risked everything to stand up for what he believed in, let us reflect on our common cause and recommit to moving forward together — as one Nation and one people.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2013, as Cesar Chavez Day. I call upon all Americans to observe this day with appropriate service, community, and education programs to honor Cesar Chavez’s enduring legacy.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this
twenty-ninth day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-seventh.

BARACK OBAMA

This proclamation and the “honor” paid to this hero of illegals and unionists alike did not go unnoticed by the Daily Caller in their article this morning:

Google honors Cesar Chavez on Easter

But does Google know or care about Chavez’s affiliations or how the United Farm Worker’s union has developed close relations to extremist unions like the SEIU? Probably not and it is doubtful they have reviewed the history of his associations especially with one Saul Alinksy:

Cesar Chavez I know, but who is Saul Alinsky? I asked the same question 10 years ago after attending a Teatro Campesino production in Orange County. The theater company was inspired by Chavez and Dolores Huerta in the 1960s, and after the show, UFW activists led a series of call-and-response cheers: “Que viva Cesar Chavez! Que viva! Que viva Dolores Huerta! Que viva!”

Paeans to other Chicano icons followed. Then came a less-familiar blast: “Que viva Saul Alinsky!” The crowd roared its answer, but I was stumped. Alinsky wasn’t a surname I had heard during my Chicano upbringing. Saul, yes. But not Alinsky! As a history professor at Cypress College, I was too embarrassed to ask anyone in the crowd that day.

Later, I learned that Alinsky founded the Chicago-based Industrial Areas Foundation, which sent battle-tested organizers to train and develop local leaders on issues related to voting, discrimination and police brutality. In his classic treatise, “Rules for Radicals: A Practical Primer for Realistic Radicals,” Alinsky showed how working-class blacks and white ethnics could work together to end employer discrimination and municipal neglect.

For example, to influence elites holding power to make concessions, “Rules for Radicals” proposed the tactic of threatening to have community activists purchase 100 seats for a symphony performance in Rochester, N.Y. Beforehand, the attendees would enjoy bowls of baked beans with subsequent “obvious consequences” as they sat in their concert seats.

To persuade an upscale department store to change its discriminatory hiring practices, Alinsky suggested that protesters order all items in sight, have them shipped C.O.D., and then refuse delivery later. These two tactics signaled that long-standing privileges would be threatened if a community withheld basic rights from its most disadvantaged residents.

One of Alinsky’s disciples, Fred Ross, founded Community Service Organization chapters throughout California after World War II. In Los Angeles, the CSO worked with Chicano activists to promote English and citizenship classes, voter-registration drives, and get-out-the vote campaigns. To aid Edward R. Roybal’s election to the Los Angeles City Council in 1949, the CSO registered 12,000 new voters. Roybal became the first Mexican-American to sit on the City Council since the 1880s, and he later represented Los Angeles in Congress for 30 years.

One of Ross’ protégés was Cesar Chavez. Like his mentor, Chavez traveled the state developing CSO chapters and leaders. After asking community members to invite neighbors, co-workers and family to a house meeting, Chavez listened to their problems and organized them to demand redresses to their grievances. His success led Alinsky and Ralph Helstein, president of the United Packinghouse Workers of America, to summon Ross and Chavez to San Francisco in 1958 to discuss the creation of a CSO chapter in Ventura County. Helstein believed that a CSO there could buttress the UPWA’s efforts to combat the citrus industry’s exploitation of bracero guest worker

– From the Ventura County Star article “The Alinksy, Chavez, Obama Connection,” by Frank P. Barajas, November 2, 2008

In other words, the ties that bind, the historical connection of radicals, especially pro-Marxists like Dolores Huerta who would if empowered to do so force Google to share all of their operating profits with the poor and to become a unionized shop to support their ilk are still strong yet so-called capitalist corporations like Google could care less. Why? Let’s go to the United Farm Worker’s home page and see what kind of affiliations they support:

UFW_RADICALjgflaLINKS

Besides the SEIU, the other groups highlighted all have a history of association with extremist left wing groups which are anti-business and in many cases anti-American or against our Constitution in their actions and proclamations. Interestingly enough, the “Change to Win” Hoffa founded splinter group allegedly has strong ties to George Soros’ groups and their causes and of course SEIU’s Andrew Stern.

It’s a good thing that I believe in the 1st Amendment and every corporation’s right to speak and act freely with their money, no matter how destructive to our freedom they might be. In response, for now, we the people have that same freedom and I might suggest an alternative search engine to voice one’s displeasure over Google’s choice to honor a radical over Jesus.

IXQUICKCOMjgfla

For now, there is nothing forcing anyone to endure the extremist views of Google when doing something as simple as a web search because at some point they need to learn the lesson that political correctness does not always equal profit.
